It is official: Ranked Choice Voting will be on the November 3rd ballot! Getting RCV passed is a major focus for us and we will call on our volunteers to help out. If you haven't signed up as a volunteer, please do so.

The Massachusetts Pirate Party condemns the use of Federal law enforcement officers in Portland and other cities throughout the United States, including PACT and the entirety of Operation Legend.  We do not need a national police force, especially not one that can be deployed with neither oversight nor invitation of the communities they occupy. No President should have the carte blanche authority to deploy retaliatory forces in this way, let alone one openly stoking white supremacist ...

The Massachusetts Legislature is wrapping up its work this Friday and we have a chance to get the Digital Right to Repair (S.107) bill passed. We need you to call your State Senator and urge them to get S.107 moved before the end of session (July 31). Emails won't be noticed as readily as a call. CALL your Senator and remind them that Digital Right to Repair is needed now, more than ever.  Talk to a staffer, leave a pointed message -- its all good. Go to Repair.org, find the Make your voic...

We support the Housing Stability Act (S.2831/H.4878) and urge you to call your legislators and tell them to vote for it. It will extend the moratorium on evictions and foreclosures beyond the October 17th extension by Governor Baker. The pandemic and economic damage is going to be with us through this year and into 2021 if not longer. Evicting people in the middle of the current crisis is wrong and will cause untold human suffering. If you don’t know who your state legislators are, go to...

Recently, the Boston City Council voted 13-0 to pass a ban face surveillance by all city departments. The mayor approved the ordinance as well. Yesterday, the Easthampton city council also voted unanimously to ban city use of face surveillance technology. Thanks to everyone who helped get these bans passed and to the Mass. ACLU and Restore the 4th for their consistent advocacy for a ban on face surveillance. While you are here, today the Senate Judiciary Committee will v...

This Thursday, the Senate Judiciary Committee will vote on the EARN IT Act. As we noted in the past, it is FOSTA/SESTA on steroids and is plainly aimed at silencing our 1st Amendment rights on-line. Attorney General Barr, no fan of our right to privacy, would use this new power to ban end-to-end encryption and ensure that platforms that use end-to-end encryption, such as Signal and WhatsApp, are wiretap ready. Neither Senators Warren and Markey are on the Judiciary Commit...
