{"id":1095,"date":"2012-08-02T15:09:40","date_gmt":"2012-08-02T19:09:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.masspirates.org\/blog\/?p=1095"},"modified":"2012-08-02T15:09:40","modified_gmt":"2012-08-02T19:09:40","slug":"cybersecurity-act-of-2012-fails-in-senate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/masspirates.org\/blog\/2012\/08\/02\/cybersecurity-act-of-2012-fails-in-senate\/","title":{"rendered":"Cybersecurity Act of 2012 Fails in Senate!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Earlier today, the Cybersecurity Act of 2012 failed in the Senate!\u00a0 A huge thank you to all of you who emailed and called the Senate.<\/p>\n<p>The bill failed to clear a cloture vote and will not advance to a general vote.\u00a0 The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.senate.gov\/legislative\/LIS\/roll_call_lists\/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=112&amp;session=2&amp;vote=00187\">cloture vote<\/a> was 52 for, 46 against, and 2 not voting.\u00a0 The vote was largely on partisan lines.\u00a0 Neither Senators Brown or Kerry voted against the bill, unfortunately.<\/p>\n<p>While it is likely the bill will not come back for this session, it doesn&#8217;t make sense to keep our guard down since it will come back.
