{"id":2311,"date":"2014-01-10T10:00:53","date_gmt":"2014-01-10T15:00:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/masspirates.org\/blog\/?p=2311"},"modified":"2014-01-14T13:36:35","modified_gmt":"2014-01-14T18:36:35","slug":"monday-honor-the-memory-of-aaron-swartz-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/masspirates.org\/blog\/2014\/01\/10\/monday-honor-the-memory-of-aaron-swartz-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Monday: Honor the Memory of Aaron Swartz"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I only got to meet Aaron Swartz once. \u00a0It was a great conversation and I feel lucky to have had that brief time to talk with him.<\/p>\n<p>When I heard he died nearly a year ago, like many I was shocked and saddened. \u00a0His death was not only a loss for his family and friends, but was our loss.<\/p>\n<p>Yet, I feel I have a special bond with Aaron. \u00a0You see on that January day, I realized that his death was on the birthday of one of my children. \u00a0Later I discovered that his birth date was the same as that of my other child. \u00a0That realization comforted me for when I look at my kids I will always remember him.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, January 13\u00a0starting at 3pm, Pirates will join with others to honor the memory of Aaron Swartz. \u00a0We hope you will join us.<\/p>\n<p>We will gather in front of the\u00a0John Joseph Moakley United States Courthouse,\u00a0One Courthouse Way in Boston. \u00a0To get there by MBTA, take the Silver line to the\u00a0Courthouse Station, or the Red line to South Station and walk.<\/p>\n<p>The memorial will last from\u00a03:00pm until 7:00pm.<\/p>\n<p>There is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/317331765072358\/?ref_dashboard_filter=upcoming\" target=\"_blank\">Facebook event<\/a>\u00a0with more details as well as demanding Carmen Ortiz&#8217;s job.<\/p>\n<p>(Image used is Daniel J.
