Data Privacy Day (28 January) inspired me to write a eulogy for privacy, given the fact that various US government agencies are monitoring and storing most of the interactions I have with electronic devices of all types.<\/p>\n
dearly beloved-
\ni am writing these lines
\nto remember privacy<\/p>\n
how as a child
\nprivacy let me leave my mistakes behind
\nand learn better-
\nfalse steps only a skin i shed<\/p>\n
how as a boy
\nprivacy let me leave those lurid obsessions
\nin twisted imagination-
\nfuture employers ignorance benefit<\/p>\n
how as a man
\nprivacy let me leave hateful
\nunkind weakness in its time-
\nbeautiful present moment<\/p>\n
now as a database record
\neach statement stumble stutter
\nsaved in digits-
\nweapons against my self<\/p>\n
so now let us bow our heads
\nand await the appearance of
