{"id":2805,"date":"2014-06-04T08:00:18","date_gmt":"2014-06-04T12:00:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/masspirates.org\/blog\/?p=2805"},"modified":"2014-06-03T00:20:50","modified_gmt":"2014-06-03T04:20:50","slug":"on-line-voter-registration-is-law","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/masspirates.org\/blog\/2014\/06\/04\/on-line-voter-registration-is-law\/","title":{"rendered":"On-Line Voter Registration is Law!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On May 22nd, the Governor Patrick <a href=\"http:\/\/www.masslive.com\/politics\/index.ssf\/2014\/05\/massachusetts_gov_deval_patric_32.html\" target=\"_blank\">signed a bill that brings voting into the 21st century<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The law\u00a0allows voters to register to vote online, cast their ballot between eleven and two days before an election and\u00a0<span style=\"color: #363636;\">16 and 17-year-olds to pre-register to vote<\/span>. \u00a0Hopefully, most of the features will be in effect this year, but some will wait until 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, voting day registration did not make it into the final bill, <a href=\"https:\/\/masspirates.org\/blog\/2014\/01\/16\/mass-senate-passes-on-line-voter-registration\/\">though it did pass in the Senate<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to everyone who contacted\u00a0their Massachusetts Senator and Representative, and to the Election Modernization Coalition for their efforts in getting this bill into law.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On May 22nd, the Governor Patrick signed a bill that brings voting into the 21st century.
