At our last weekly IRC meeting, we adopted our new Articles of Agreement<\/a> and Code of Conduct<\/a>.\u00a0 We also elected acting Cap’n James O’Keefe of Somerville and acting 1st Officer Jeremy (J. P.) Hollembaek of Lowell.\u00a0 You can reach James at jokeefe at jamesokeefe dot org and J.P. at jphollembaek at gmail dot com.\u00a0 Both will serve until we hold elections under the new Articles of Agreement.\u00a0 Also, the Party needs a member to be our treasurer, so if you are interested, please contact us.\u00a0 We welcome your comments and help.<\/p>\n Our focus is on starting local chapters, identifying candidates for the 2012 elections and fighting bills such as the PROTECT IP Act.\u00a0 Our next IRC meeting today, June 13th at 9:30pm will be about planning for the 2012 election.\u00a0 To join us, go to the Organizing section on the right column of the blog<\/a> and follow the instructions.<\/p>\n This Wednesday, June 15th, 6-8pm,<\/strong> we are joining with a new student-run group called Civic Counsel to organize a rally opposing the pending grand jury targeting Wikileaks and its supporters. It will start at 6pm and will be outside Boston City Hall in Government Center. You can find out about the event at this page<\/a>, and you can tell Civic Counsel that you will attend at their Facebook event<\/a>. Please spread the word far and wide.<\/p>\n On Saturday, July 16th, 1-3pm<\/strong>, we will be handing out flyers and signing up new pirates at Art Beat<\/strong> in Somerville.\u00a0 Art Beat is a long-running arts festival in Somerville and it will be a good place to tell folks about the Pirate Party.\u00a0 If you want to help us out please email us at info@masspirates.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n On Saturday, July 23rd, noon-6pm<\/strong>, we are joining with Boston Freedom of Information to host the 2011 Pirate Picnic<\/strong> on George’s Island in Boston Harbor.\u00a0 We will be taking the noon ferry from the Boston Long Wharf-North landing and will be there until 6pm.\u00a0 We will have a picnic, games, costume contests, as well political discussion and trainings.\u00a0 We want to know what activities you want to see so either tells on our Facebook event page<\/a> or email us at info@masspirates.org<\/a>.\u00a0 Please tell us if you will be at the picnic so we can get a head count.\u00a0 It will be a great afternoon of geek politics, activism, and fun.\u00a0 We hope you can make it!<\/p>\n … but want to help?\u00a0 Visit our Help Build the Party<\/a> page for info on common questions about our issues, an organizing guide, and our latest flyer.\u00a0 Don’t see something you need?
