{"id":4908,"date":"2016-11-12T12:00:33","date_gmt":"2016-11-12T17:00:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/masspirates.org\/blog\/?p=4908"},"modified":"2016-11-13T17:25:07","modified_gmt":"2016-11-13T22:25:07","slug":"how-to-run-workshop-today-now-with-slides","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/masspirates.org\/blog\/2016\/11\/12\/how-to-run-workshop-today-now-with-slides\/","title":{"rendered":"How to Run Workshop Today, Now with Slides"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As part of the Massachusetts Pirate Party&#8217;s &#8220;run local&#8221; initiative, today we are organizing a series of workshops on how to run in a local election.\u00a0 We&#8217;re talking town meetings, city councils, and school committees.\u00a0 It doesn&#8217;t take a fortune to run, you don&#8217;t need an army of volunteers, and the work you do can make a real difference in your community.<\/p>\n<p>This event will be held in the Mandela Room of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/democracycenter.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Democracy Center<\/a>, 45 Mount Auburn St., Harvard Square, Cambridge, from 1:00 &#8211; 4:00pm today, Saturday November 12th.\u00a0 The Democracy Center is an awesome place, but unfortunately it is not wheelchair accessible.<\/p>\n<p>Please show up or <a href=\"mailto:info@masspirates.org\">email us<\/a> if you want to attend a future training.\u00a0 We are planning to offer this training around the Commonwealth and maybe other New England states.\u00a0 Please get in touch with info(AT)masspirates.org if you&#8217;re interested in having a training in your area<\/p>\n<p>Here are some of our slides.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/masspirates.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/YourCommunityNeedsYou.pdf\">Your Community needs you<\/a> a presentation about running for local office.\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/masspirates.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/town-meeting.pdf\">What you can do as a town meeting member<\/a>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you&#8217;ve ever considered running for local office, then this workshop is for you &#8212; even if you&#8217;re still on the fence.\u00a0 We&#8217;ll talk about logistics (filing paperwork and gathering signatures), ideas for running small but effective campaigns, and what happens after you&#8217;ve won the election.
