The fight continues <a href=\"https:\/\/www.battleforthenet.com\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">in Congress<\/a> and the courts. Thankfully the Massachusetts delegation supports net neutrality and there are state and national groups bringing court challenges. You can even <a href=\"http:\/\/www.testyourinter.net\/\">get an app to see whether your internet connection is being throttled or censored<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Most people have few if any choices for their ISP and they seldom can choose an ISP which is pro-net neutrality. Additionally, because of the lack of competition, ISPs are way too expensive compared to many other advanced economy countries. We can change that!<\/p>\n<p>Community mesh networks such as <a href=\"https:\/\/nycmesh.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=en&amp;q=https:\/\/nycmesh.net\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1513870645609000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHB-YOZLzNGUo1Nle1-qT2M7Vyfsg\" rel=\"noopener\">NYC Mesh<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Guifi.net\" target=\"_blank\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=en&amp;q=https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Guifi.net&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1513870645609000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHHxL38ZwZWd3T7xmnJ6EoxBzXACQ\" rel=\"noopener\">Guifi.net<\/a> in Spain and <a href=\"https:\/\/freifunk.net\/en\/\">Freifunk<\/a> in Germany have already shown it can be done. Two upcoming meetings will discuss how we can move forward with developing a community mesh network in the Boston area:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1\/31, 6-9pm, Somerville Cryptoparty, The Sprouts, 339R Summer Street, Somerville<\/li>\n<li>2\/10, 1-4pm, Community Meshnet Workshop, Somerville Public Library, 79 Highland Ave, Somerville<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Somerville Cryptoparty folks put together a <a href=\"https:\/\/masspirates.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/MESH-NETWORKING.pdf\">flyer for the February workshop<\/a> that we hope you will put up in your neighborhood.
