In 2017, the\u00a0<a data-cke-saved-href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/OES\/current\/oes_ma.htm#00-0000\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/OES\/current\/oes_ma.htm#00-0000\">average salary in Massachusetts was\u00a0<\/a>$62,110.\u00a0<a data-cke-saved-href=\"https:\/\/www.mass.gov\/files\/documents\/2018\/03\/23\/dor-other-reports-mass-film-industry-tax-incentives-2015.pdf\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mass.gov\/files\/documents\/2018\/03\/23\/dor-other-reports-mass-film-industry-tax-incentives-2015.pdf\">It cost $102,888 in tax credits for each job created<\/a>.\u00a0Additionally, a film won\u2019t get a tax credit unless it spends more than $50,000 in Massachusetts. Your small up and coming local film maker doesn\u2019t benefit from the tax credits.\u00a0We are losing on the deal and Hollywood is profiting.<\/p>\n<p>Thankfully, the film tax credit that makes this possible is scheduled to expire in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Now 100+ Massachusetts legislators support <a rel=\"nofollow\" data-cke-saved-href=\"https:\/\/malegislature.gov\/Bills\/191\/HD388\" href=\"https:\/\/malegislature.gov\/Bills\/191\/HD388\">HD388<\/a>\u00a0which would make the film tax credit permanent.\u00a0We cannot let that happen!<\/p>\n<p>Ways you can help include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>monitoring the bill&#8217;s page to identify when the hearing will be;<\/li>\n<li>contacting your legislators to tell them to oppose this bill;<\/li>\n<li>getting family, friend and neighbors to call;<\/li>\n<li>organizing\u00a0people to speak in opposition to\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" data-cke-saved-href=\"https:\/\/malegislature.gov\/Bills\/191\/HD388\" href=\"https:\/\/malegislature.gov\/Bills\/191\/HD388\">HD388<\/a>\u00a0at the hearing;<\/li>\n<li>organizing a lobby day at the state house or legislators&#8217; local meetings;<\/li>\n<li>reaching our to other groups to coordinate opposition to this bill.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We need your help!
