{"id":6013,"date":"2019-06-11T09:00:08","date_gmt":"2019-06-11T13:00:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/masspirates.org\/blog\/?p=6013"},"modified":"2019-06-11T08:38:55","modified_gmt":"2019-06-11T12:38:55","slug":"rally-for-whistleblowers-today","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/masspirates.org\/blog\/2019\/06\/11\/rally-for-whistleblowers-today\/","title":{"rendered":"Rally for Whistleblowers Today"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Smedley Butler Brigade, Veterans for Peace, Boston and its allies are standing out on June 11 from 5 to 6 PM in Harvard Square, calling for freedom for heroic Wikileaks whistler-blower Chelsea Manning and for WikiLeaks&#8217; founder Julian Assange not to be extradited to the US. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chelsea Manning, <a href=\"https:\/\/masspirates.org\/blog\/2019\/05\/12\/chelsea-manning-released\/\">released when the grand jury that had demanded her testimony was closed<\/a>, was called before another grand jury and jailed for refusing to participate with it.&nbsp; The <a href=\"https:\/\/boingboing.net\/2019\/05\/23\/us-files-17-new-charges-agains.html\">US Government has entered more charges against Julian Assange<\/a> in order to have him extradited to the US. Reality Winner is still held for revealing US intelligence information on efforts by the Russian government to influence the US election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trump expanded Obama&#8217;s attack on whistleblowers.  We must support defenders of free speech and government transparency.
