Digital Fourth<\/a> and QuitGPT<\/a> will protest outside the offices of Rep. Katherine Clark in Malden<\/a> to demand that she oppose extension of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), specifically Section 702. As long time proponents of ending illegal government surveillance, we support this protest.<\/p>\n

FISA 702 permits warrantless government access to people\u2019s communications, including US persons<\/a>; it permits warrantless acquisition of people\u2019s commercially available information<\/a> (location data, browsing data, demographic and other sensitive data), and, because AI is new, a law passed in 2008 doesn\u2019t address the problem of AI vastly accelerating the government\u2019s power to ingest data and surface real or hallucinated \u201cinsights\u201d on who\u2019s a threat<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In 2013, Rep. Clark explicitly pledged<\/a> to support \u201can individualized warrant based on probable cause before the government can search someone\u2019s email.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0 She turned her back on that pledge and has whipped Democrats to support expanded warrantless surveillance in 2024.<\/p>\n

Come out to help them! The protest will be in front of her district office at 157 Pleasant St #4, Malden, MA 02148<\/a>. It is a short walk from the Malden Center Orange Line MBTA stop, the Jackson Street Parking Garage and Pleasant Street Parking Lot.<\/p>\n
