Meeting Minutes

<nowiki>

[12:07] <@mildbeard> The PNC last night adopted a skeleton set of bylaws. Not enough meat to them, but they're a start. And that means we can move on to electing officers some day soon. Not much else to report nationally. Minor stuff. [12:10] <@jokeefe> ok [12:11] <@jokeefe> I have been focused on Gregory's visit and the upcoming CryptoParty. [12:11] <@jokeefe> We need an inperson meeting in Nov. between the election and Thanksgiving [12:11] <@jokeefe> Need a new flier design as well for at least the CryptoParty [12:12] <@jokeefe> plus LQFB stuff [12:12] <@jokeefe> need to exhort people on that. [12:13] <@mildbeard> I saw that you created LQFB issues for the ballot questions. [12:18] <@jokeefe> Poll for the Nov in-person meeting - http://doodle.com/3vq4ewd927mrysu2 [12:19] <@mildbeard> Awesome. My extended family is using doodle polls now to schedule our birthday parties!!! [12:20] <@jokeefe> Gregory's talk was good. They are way more advanced than we are. [12:20] <@jokeefe> I could only stay for half of it, but dinner afterwards was good. [12:21] <@jokeefe> seven people all together [12:21] <@mildbeard> That's two things by him I missed in traffic. Still not feeling very good about it. [12:24] <@jokeefe> Stuff happens [12:24] <@mildbeard> yeah [12:30] <@jokeefe> did you see this?http://piratetimes.net/how-sweden-found-an-effective-way-of-broadening-their-politics/ [12:32] <@mildbeard> no, looking now. [12:33] <@mildbeard> awesome [12:34] <@mildbeard> Do we have the capability of adding a simple forum to our site? Can you do that in Wordpress? [12:35] <@jokeefe> it is easy to setup a wordpress.com blog [12:36] <@jokeefe> just wondering if that is a more open approach. I like LQFB, esp. with a nice skin on it, but even among activists it hasn't gained traction, and maybe making something completely transparent would get more people involved? [12:36] <@mildbeard> I am in favor of it. The simpler the better. [12:37] <@mildbeard> I think we should be going for the 99% view on every issue that matters, and is outside our core issues of open culture and so on. [12:37] <@mildbeard> The technology isn't that critical as long as people are participating. [12:38] <@mildbeard> As long as it's easy for people to participate in the debate, and as long as we are on top of it so we don't let spam get out of hand. [12:38] <@mildbeard> Very excited to learn that they are doing this. [12:42] <@mildbeard> I am working on a comprehensive platform for the Pirate Party in the US and would love to have something on our site to present issue proposals for comment. [12:45] <@jokeefe> Sounds good. I do think holding video chats along with a blog will help. Anything to get folks more engaged. They host their blog, but something at wordpress.com could work. We need to think about moving our site to a better solution. [12:46] <@mildbeard> If we have a more comprehensive set of policies, and if they offer something that no other party has, then we have the potential to get the one thing we need the most: more warm bodies. [12:46] <@mildbeard> So whatever we need to do with our site to get that in the works, I'll be in favor of it. [12:48] <@jokeefe> agreed [12:56] <@mildbeard> Are we all set? I don't have anything else. [12:59] <@jokeefe> yes, I think so. have a good day! [12:59] <@mildbeard> you too. [12:59] <@jokeefe> tnx
