21:03 < noe> ahoy!
21:03 < srevilak> hi all

21:06 < srevilak> Steve Revilak, Arlington, MA

21:07 < jokeefe> anything we are missing?
21:07 < jokeefe> ahoy Kendra
21:07 < jokeefe> https://piratenpad.de/p/Pride2014
21:07 < Kendra> Hi
21:07 < jokeefe> though I should ask how the sign making went
21:08 < noe> Steve and Kit came over and we tossed around ideas and made some signs.
21:08 < jokeefe> also it looks like we will be joined by the libertarians and greens
21:08 < noe> Hooray!
21:08 < jokeefe> at Pride
21:09 < jokeefe> not all marching together, though
21:09 < noe> Socialist Alternative will be at Dyke March tomorrow
21:09 < jokeefe> who knows where they will put us
21:09 < noe> I have been invited to the 15 Now Victory Party Saturday night, in fact, all pirates have been invited.
21:09 < jokeefe> I wouldn't expect anything less from them
21:09 < jokeefe> this Sat. night?
21:10 < noe> Yup.
21:10 < jokeefe> is there a link we can share?
21:11 < Bluelustreak> Great campaigning opportunity
21:11 < jokeefe> Thanks to noe, srevilak and Kit for the signs
21:11 < noe> I was emailed details and though 15 Now brought fliers to the wage action tonight, they didn't have an official notice
21:11 < noe> If someone could spam the pirate activist list, that would be awesome!
21:12 < jokeefe> you could ;-)
21:13 < noe> Found the Facebook event:  https://www.facebook.com/events/811424028868807/?ref=5
21:13 < jokeefe> thanks
21:13 < noe> you do itttt!
21:14 < jokeefe> sure thing
21:14 < noe> I have been asked by the 15 Now to mention, if anyone here has national party connections, to bring up the fact that 15 Now does have southern chapters
21:14 < Bluelustreak> I see it's at Doyles
21:15 < noe> 15 Now is mostly non-partisan:  Tampa, New Orleans, and Tampa.  So if we have Pirates near these guys, it would be cool to let them know.
21:16 < noe> All right, getting off of my WageAction horse now.
21:16 < jokeefe> there are pirates in FL.  We can mention it to them.
21:16 < jokeefe> how was the rally?
21:16 < noe> It was good.  Ran into JP Lowenthal and lots of union leaders.
21:17 < noe> The action was simultaneously taking place in Springfield and two other locations.
21:17 < jokeefe> fantastic
21:18 < jokeefe> so anything missing at https://piratenpad.de/p/Pride2014?
21:18 < noe> It was structured similarly for each area:  political rally in a public area for about one hour, then a march with a few stops for demonstrations at known "bad actor" sites
21:18 < noe> The march with demonstrations was another hour
21:19 < noe> I think the Pride list looks fantastic!
21:19 < srevilak> list looks good to me too
21:20 < jokeefe> how are folks getting there?
21:20 < noe> What was our number of marchers at last count?
21:20 < jokeefe> thinking
21:20 < noe> I will probably arrive via Hubway.
21:20 < jokeefe> at least ten
21:21 < noe> 10 is fantastic!
21:21 < jokeefe> srevilak, are you driving in?
21:21 < srevilak> maybe 10-12 or so marchers at the last parade?
21:21 < Bluelustreak> 8
21:21 < srevilak> jokeefe: was planning to take red line
21:21 < jokeefe> wondered if you might be able to take the pirate ship in
21:22 < srevilak> jokeefe: you mean the wagon?
21:22 < jokeefe> aye
21:22 < jokeefe> I might have too many passengers
21:22 < jokeefe> you have a nice flat bed
21:22 < srevilak> where does one park for pride?
21:23 < srevilak> pru garage?
21:24 < jokeefe> that is what we did last time.
21:24 < noe> definitely better than the common one
21:25 < srevilak> okay, I can take wagon
21:25 < jokeefe> seemed easier than parking at the common and walking the wagon over.
21:25 < srevilak> when should I fetch it?
21:25 < noe> the commons garage won't reopen until late
21:25 < jokeefe> ah
21:25 < jokeefe> Friday night would be best.
21:25 < jokeefe> does that work?
21:26 < srevilak> sure, can swing by after work
21:26 < srevilak> probably 7pm or so
21:27 < jokeefe> ok, will plan for it.
21:29 < jokeefe> so that seems all set
21:29 < jokeefe> reminder that we have the platform social 6/21 2-4pm Pizzeria Regina in Boston
21:30 < jokeefe> One other thing, I take it everyone has seen this news:
21:30 < jokeefe> http://www.alternet.org/civil-liberties/glenn-greenwald-publish-names-americans-nsa-spied
21:31 < Bluelustreak> Pride Parade update just came in
21:31 < Bluelustreak> Like seconds ago. All y'all check email
21:31 < Bluelustreak> I forwarded it
21:32 < Bluelustreak> American apathy=learned helplessness
21:32 < noe> Thanks for the update Lucia!
21:32 < jokeefe> so we are between New England Leather Alliance and Gentle Giant moving
21:33 < noe> I think it'll be a fun crowd.
21:33 < Bluelustreak> Jason loves leather!
21:33 < Bluelustreak> (FYI)
21:33 < jokeefe> it certainly will be
21:33 < Kendra> That Glenn Greenwald report is going to be omething else.  Get our popcorn read.
21:33 < noe> I'm excited, but I don't think I'll be on the list at all.
21:33 < noe> If any Kamelamelas are on there, I'm gonna be shocked.
21:34 < jokeefe> so we assemble at 800 Boylston Street
21:34 < jokeefe> will update the site.
21:34 < Bluelustreak> TY
21:35 < jokeefe> The reason I bring up GG's revelation, is to ask what do we want to say in a PR?
21:35 < jokeefe> we don't know exactly when, but having different PRs ready will help when we need to get it out quickly.
21:35 < jokeefe> We have a bit of time, but likely not too much
21:35 < noe> If the list reveals that the NSA is a bunch of time-wasting jokers, we should prepare an anti-NSA screed.
21:36 < jokeefe> so wanted to brainstorm ideas
21:36 < Kendra> We need to re-confirm our commitment to government transparency as a core value.
21:36 < noe> If the list reveals that the NSA is legit targeting criminals, but not getting information that will put those criminals away immediately . . . we can still write an anti-NSA screed.
21:37 < jokeefe> what if the people they are watching are members of congress, the president, the judiciary?
21:37 < jokeefe> what do they know and how did they use it?
21:37 < srevilak> jokeefe: I won't be surprised if those folks are on the list
21:38 < noe> I'm with srevilak on that.
21:38 < Kendra> We should also demand and audit of the NSA and other intelligence agencies using our tax dollars to spy on us.  They should demonstrate where the money has been spent and whether or not a progaram that big is benefitting the people who pay for it.
21:38 < noe> Exactly, how do they prove they've done anything to benefit taxpayers?
21:38 < noe> How do we prove they've done anything of benefit at all?
21:39 < jokeefe> what if they are using the information to blackmail people in power?
21:40 < jokeefe> awfully nice mistress you have there, be a shame if word got out about your affair?
21:40 < noe> well, there was a recent post about how they proved about 4 NSA agents definitely abused their power to hurt individuals.
21:40 < Bluelustreak> They already are using info to balckmail ppl in power
21:40 < Bluelustreak> Where did that Blagojovich recording come from?
21:41 < Bluelustreak> His True crime? Defeying Bank of America
21:41 < jokeefe> good question
21:42 < Bluelustreak> The DAY AFTER he announced Illinois would boy cott BoA
21:42 < Bluelustreak> until they made good on moneis owed to theose windows and doors workers
21:42 < Bluelustreak> was the day this recording appeared
21:43 < Bluelustreak> Recording didnt show an wrongdoing either
21:43 < Kendra> We should demand provide specific examples of how many threats have been thwarted, with solid evidence.  Also how much is spent for each threat that is actually stopped?
21:43 < Bluelustreak> Yay more supplication!
21:43 < noe> Here's the datapoint regarding the NSA and agents abusing their power to stalk from the 2013 hearing (back in late September) in the Senate Intelligence Committee from the mouth of Senator Feinstein:  "---roughly one case [of inappropriate use] per year."
21:44 < Bluelustreak> LMAO
21:44 < Bluelustreak> One
21:44 < noe> That's about 10 . . . that we have concrete proof about.
21:45 < jokeefe> so what are the scenarios?
21:45 < jokeefe> 1) everybody is being watched
21:45 < jokeefe> 2) just terrorists
21:45 < jokeefe> 3) occupy and leftists
21:45 < jokeefe> 4) congress, judiciary, etc.
21:46 < jokeefe> 5) right wing groups
21:46 < noe> I think even under those scenarios, we can argue that the NSA should not have the right to do this.
21:46 < jokeefe> certainly, but how do we make our PR stand out?
21:46 < Kendra> Black and brown people and poor white people.
21:46 < noe> We've proven time and again that the NSA is willing to lie to our government, and our citizens.
21:47 < jokeefe> aye to both points
21:48 < jokeefe> anyone want to write a PR (or more) to have at the ready?
21:48 < jokeefe> the other thing is what if it is our Congressional delegation.
21:48 < noe> Someone want to throw up a pirtepad thingie and we can all poke at it over the weekend?
21:48 < noe> *piratepad
21:48 < noe> derp
21:49 < jokeefe> how do we get the ones who support this abomination to abandon them.
21:49 < jokeefe> ?
21:49 < srevilak> jokeefe: probably not easy
21:50 < srevilak> lots of the surveillance state is outsourced
21:50 < jokeefe> yes, nhttps://piratenpad.de/p/theyknowwhoPR
21:50 < Kendra> We also have to keep in mind that with the lack of employment and the tax base erroding with lower wages, the surveillance feeds into the prison systems.  People are then forced to work for slave wages for private corporate prisons, so the NSA feeds into the prison industrial complex.
21:50 < jokeefe> https://piratenpad.de/p/theyknowwhoPR
21:50 < srevilak> and I bet some of the (outsourced) companies are big political contributors
21:50 < Kendra> It's a business
21:50 < srevilak> Kendra: agreed
21:50 < jokeefe> aye to both
21:51 < noe> So, everyone should write write write to their hearts content!
21:51 < Kendra> Sorry, had a police helicopter cirlcing my neighborhood for hours last night, very loudly, pissed me off.
21:52 < noe> I'm excited to see what we'll write together.
21:52 < noe> When should the list get published?
21:52 < jokeefe> June / July
21:54 < jokeefe> that is all I have
21:54 < jokeefe> anything anyone else wants to bring up?
21:55 < srevilak> nothing here
21:55 < noe> nope
21:55 < Kendra> I'll be in town soon
21:55 < Kendra> Looking forward to it
21:55 < srevilak> Kendra: look forward to seeing you
21:55 < noe> oh wait, erm, hey lucia, if you're here, does Joe have an EIN?
21:56 < Bluelustreak> I am and idk
21:56 < jokeefe> look forward to your return, Kendra
21:57 < Bluelustreak> I told him to call you Noe, siad you would answert his questions
21:57 < Bluelustreak> did he call you?
21:57 < noe> He did!
21:58 < noe> I sent him the information my treasurer gave me.  Essentially, call the IRS and have them walk you through it.
21:58 < Bluelustreak> Oh.
21:58 < noe> I know!  Its frustrating.
21:58 < Bluelustreak> No he specifially told me....
21:59 < Bluelustreak> that he had been on hold... but he gave the impression he had given up
21:59 < noe> oh, okay.
21:59 < Bluelustreak> I told him: Get on hold, put it on speaker and clean your room, do the laundry, watch a show...
21:59 < Bluelustreak> Never heard back from him
21:59 < Bluelustreak> Said he would come with us to parade
21:59 < jokeefe> good so we have 11.
22:00 < Bluelustreak> Sick of chasing him frankly
22:00 < jokeefe> I will call and remind him.
22:00 < noe> If he has given up, either your or Jason can apply for an EIN for his committee without him.
22:00 < noe> Someone just has to sit down, call the IRS and ask a bunch of questions.
22:00 < Bluelustreak> orly?
22:00 < jokeefe> yes, he doesn't have to do it.
22:00 < Bluelustreak> I got the impression only her could do that
22:00 < Bluelustreak> Great, more stuff on my uber long list
22:00 < jokeefe> nope.  Obama certainly didn't
22:00 < noe> Nope, Joe Treasurer applied for my committee's EIN on my own.
22:01 < noe> He can do it, but if he does not have the talent, he does not have the talent.
22:01 < jokeefe> we are at time
22:01 < Bluelustreak> It will have to wait until after the parade
22:01 < noe> no problem!
22:01 < Bluelustreak> I have too much to do this week
22:01 < noe> Thank you for all you're doing.
22:01 < jokeefe> do what you can.
22:01 < noe> Should we move to adjourn?
22:01 < srevilak> second motion to adjourn
22:01 < jokeefe> aye
22:02 < noe> aye
22:02 < jokeefe> all in favor?
22:02 < Bluelustreak> aye
22:02 < srevilak> aye
22:02 < noe> aye!
22:02 < jokeefe> aye
