Summary

Meetup Review

Committee Reports

Democracy/IT

  • as of last night, our wiki should be spam-free, or pretty darn close to spam free
  • mayfirst (hosting provider we're moving too) has a nice canned mediawiki setup, but it's a slightly older version
  • plan is to export remaining pages (about 135 of them), and import into a new mediawiki instance
  • hopefully we can use mysqldump to migrate users accounts, but that needs to be tested
  • we do wiki migration when Democracy committee next meets
  • set up new masspirates web site last sat, and working on mailing list migration
  • new blog at masspiratesweb.mayfirst.org
  • 3dclay sent new image design, sent him comments, waiting on final version
  • need more stock images, since this new theme is more image intensive

Welcoming

  • posted a request for interns
  • found a site for an evening meetup

Survey

Conference

Space

Haven't heard back from all places yet. Will put out a flier with date and location vague.

Topics & Speakers

A talk on using whatever GitLaw like platform we adopt would be good.

Logistics

js0000 said he would help with the conference wifi.

Legislation

Started a review of An Act updating privacy protections for personal electronic information, but since it consisted only of the changes and not what is being changed, it proved to be more difficult to tackle it in a half an hour.

Discussion ensued about what tools we could use to track such diffs. They included:

  • Setting up a [1] account since they are free for public items.
  • Setting up a git server on our new hosting service
  • Using [2]
  • Using Will, which was done by some Occupy Boston folks

Some tools we found:

For inspiration is this blog post: GitHub for Laws and Legal Documents - a Tourniquet for American Liberty

Other Ideas

We could use some kind of listing of current endeavors and maybe specific things that need volunteers. jokeefe agreed to put one up on the wiki.
