<nowiki>
[12:01] <jokeefe> Lets being [12:01] <jokeefe> begin [12:01] <jokeefe> Agenda at http://masspirates.org/wiki/index.php?title=February_14th,_2012_IRC_Meeting [12:02] <jokeefe> Start with ids - James O'Keefe, Somerville [12:02] <SplendidSpoon> Lauren Pespisa - Boxboro/Cambridge [12:02] <JP> JP, lowell [12:03] <GrimJack> John Gaunt, Springfield-ish [12:04] <jokeefe> Agenda Item 1. Status of conference [12:04] <jokeefe> Still locking down the schedule. Got responses from folks, but not from everyone. [12:04] <jokeefe> Hope to be done by Friday at the latest [12:05] <jokeefe> SplendidSpoon, any word on your friend? [12:05] <jokeefe> whether she wants to be on the panel? [12:05] <SplendidSpoon> Yes she never responded so I'm going to assume nope [12:05] <jokeefe> shame [12:06] <SplendidSpoon> Yea [12:06] <jokeefe> So we have two so far. I pinged Randall Munroe's press email, but no response. would anyone be able to send me a better way to contact him? [12:07] <SplendidSpoon> WAT Randall Munroe? [12:07] <SplendidSpoon> xkcd guy? [12:07] <jokeefe> XKCD [12:07] <SplendidSpoon> wow [12:07] <SplendidSpoon> You try going to his irc channel? [12:08] == erixoltan [47aee4da@gateway/web/freenode/ip.71.174.228.218] has joined #masspirates [12:08] <jokeefe> haven't yet. good idea. would you be able to ask him? [12:08] <jokeefe> hey erixoltan [12:08] <erixoltan> erixoltan - Erik Zoltan (Framingham) [12:09] <jokeefe> thanks! [12:09] <SplendidSpoon> Ill try i never actually talked to him before [12:09] <jokeefe> nor I [12:10] <jokeefe> Will send an email focusing on the conference this week [12:10] <GrimJack> I saw him at a con a few years back with Doctorow. Since Doctorow contributed to No Safe Harbor, maybe someone has a way to reach out to him to put you in touch with Randall that isn't the front-door press email. [12:10] <GrimJack> Just a thought. [12:10] <jokeefe> could work. Depends on Doctorow responding. Could also ping RM on twitter. [12:11] <jokeefe> Moving on to 2. Elect national reps [12:12] <jokeefe> Erik Zoltan offered to be the primary representative to the Pirate National Council [12:12] <jokeefe> Lauren Pespisa and James O'Keefe offered to be alternates [12:12] <jokeefe> Any others? JP? [12:12] <erixoltan> moment of weakness... [12:12] <jokeefe> The more the merrier [12:13] <JP> no one I can think of, will keep pondering [12:13] <jokeefe> I only plan to be a rep to help orient the others [12:13] <SplendidSpoon> hey what should I leave a message with Randall saying? [12:13] <SplendidSpoon> People on the irc saying he hasn't been to an event in awhile [12:14] <SplendidSpoon> If one of you wants to message me with the message to message him with that'd be cool haha [12:15] <erixoltan> fomclol [12:15] <jokeefe> We are having a conference on March 10th in Cambridge and will have a panel dicussion we would like him to be on. Current title is "Tales from the Net: Making a living at being creative". Writer / publisher Cecilia Tan and at least one other will be on it. [12:15] <SplendidSpoon> k and email to contact? [12:15] <SplendidSpoon> for him to email back? [12:16] <jokeefe> [his email] works [12:16] <jokeefe> main party email seems impersonal [12:17] <jokeefe> Back to PNC reps. Anyone else interested in being a PNC rep? [12:18] <JP> my plate is full, I think [12:19] <jokeefe> no doubt :-) [12:19] <jokeefe> once [12:19] <jokeefe> going twice [12:20] == ccwalsh [183d0e0f@gateway/web/freenode/ip.24.61.14.15] has joined #masspirates [12:20] <ccwalsh> Hi everyone, sorry I'm late [12:20] <jokeefe> Welcome ! [12:21] <jokeefe> Just electing reps to the Pirate National Council [12:21] <ccwalsh> Good, good [12:21] <jokeefe> Reps would serve no more than six months at the most while we figure out how the national party should organize it. [12:22] <jokeefe> Currently: Erik Zoltan as primary reps, while Lauren and I would be alternates [12:22] <jokeefe> Any objections fo that line up? [12:23] <SplendidSpoon> sounds good [12:23] <ccwalsh> no objection here [12:25] <jokeefe> I have no objections [12:27] <jokeefe> All opposed curse on your peg leg. Arrgh! [12:27] <SplendidSpoon> lulz [12:28] <jokeefe> Hearing none, motion passes [12:28] <jokeefe> Agenda Item 3. Discuss helping form Pirate parties in New England [12:28] <jokeefe> erixoltan suggested this one [12:29] <erixoltan> I wanted to ask whether there are any active pirate parties (besides us) in New England? [12:29] <jokeefe> Not that I know of [12:29] <jokeefe> Chris R offered to help start a NH Pirate Party and do the research work on it. I know of at least one other person who was interested. I think there are other followers on twitter from other NE states [12:30] <erixoltan> That seems odd to me - there have to be a lot of people that would join in the other NE states if they had an organization. [12:31] <SplendidSpoon> Organizers are a rare breed though [12:31] <jokeefe> aye! [12:32] <jokeefe> On twitter: 3 in NH, 2 in CT, 1 in VT and the other two from NE [12:32] <jokeefe> We could have a talk on building the Pirate Party in New England at the conference [12:33] <jokeefe> I think NH would be our best place to start next [12:33] <erixoltan> Seems like an open discussion would be appropriate - is it possible to do that instead of a "talk" where one person presents? [12:33] <jokeefe> discussion? [12:34] <jokeefe> A discussion would be better. [12:35] <jokeefe> We also have the lunch & dinner times when we could just get food and sit around and talk [12:36] <ccwalsh> It should at least be on the schedule so people know to attend if they're interested [12:37] <jokeefe> good idea
