[9:03pm] jokeefe: Agenda: https://masspirates.org/wiki/October_20th,_2021_IRC_Meeting
[9:03pm] jokeefe: ids
[9:03pm] Joe: I think I have been able to get the last of the cables required. Took much cleaning at my parents house, since when I'm there there is always a todo list....
[9:03pm] jokeefe: James O’Keefe, Somerville
[9:03pm] Joe: Joseph Onoroski, Lowell
[9:03pm] jokeefe: Anything to add?
[9:03pm] Joe: https://etherpad.pp-international.net/p/USPP_No_More_Victimless_Crimes
[9:04pm] jokeefe: yeah. I have boxes of cables, many obsolete
[9:04pm] malt: nyet
[9:04pm] Joe: New plank we started.
[9:04pm] malt: i refuse to organize or dispose of any of my old cables
[9:04pm] Joe: Hoping for the Malt touch, <3
[9:04pm] malt: even tho they're mostly RCA
[9:04pm] jokeefe: lol malt
[9:04pm] Joe: I found an apple 2 c today
[9:04pm] malt: noice
[9:05pm] malt: frankly i think i'd really enjoy having a cute lil ol desktop machine just for writing
[9:05pm] malt: no modern contrivances to distract me
[9:05pm] Joe: They were quite robust little things.
[9:06pm] Joe: I hope to be working on it tomorrow, jokeefe
[9:06pm] jokeefe: good luck
[9:07pm] Joe: I'm pretty sure it should be ok
[9:08pm] Joe: And I have a second one almost rebuilt as well.
[9:08pm] jokeefe: https://etherpad.pp-international.net/p/MAPPImmigrationPlank
[9:09pm] jokeefe: good
[9:14pm] jokeefe: Sorry to be the stick in the mud, but it still doesn’t sound right to me. Could we try to review them next week?
[9:14pm] malt: okay
[9:15pm] jokeefe: Two upcoming events we may want to support:
[9:15pm] jokeefe: 1) October 30 live streamed discussion of fusion centers https://warrantless.org/2021/10/understanding-fusion-centers/
[9:16pm] malt: the law enforcement things that don't work
[9:16pm] malt: rather than fusion energy
[9:16pm] malt: BRIC, right, fuck those guys
[9:17pm] jokeefe: lol, agreed
[9:17pm] jokeefe: 2) October 25 from 2pm to 4pm Julian Assange forum at the community church of boston
[9:18pm] jokeefe: “Journalist and managing editor of Shadowproof Kevin Gosztola <https://shadowproof.com/author/kgosztola/>, and Boston author, teacher and activist, Victor Wallis <https://www.victorwallis.com/>, join Passarelli to discuss recent revelations of the vengeful CIA’s plot to kidnap, rendition, and assassinate Assange, engaging in illegal means to bypass the rule of law in order to make an example of Julian Assange, intimidate journalists and suppress press freedoms. Assange’s final extradition hearing is October 27 & 28.”
[9:18pm] malt: i'm cool with that
[9:19pm] jokeefe: http://masspeaceaction.org/event/the-war-on-journalism-the-case-of-julian-assange/
[9:20pm] jokeefe: All in favor of supporting both events?
[9:21pm] Joe: Aye
[9:21pm] Joe: I was getting lost on writing
[9:21pm] Joe: Sry
[9:21pm] jokeefe: aye
[9:21pm] Joe: https://etherpad.pp-international.net/p/USPP_No_More_Victimless_Crimes
[9:22pm] Joe: Can we add that under planks?
[9:22pm] jokeefe: sure
[9:22pm] jokeefe: will add it to the next meeting
[9:22pm] jokeefe: any objections to supporting the two events?
[9:23pm] malt: none
[9:23pm] malt: about no more victimless crimes, don't we already have a plank on drug reform?
[9:23pm] jokeefe: ok, will get posts up and notify the organizers
[9:23pm] jokeefe: Party Budget
[9:24pm] jokeefe: we do https://masspirates.org/blog/ourissues/drug-policy/
[9:25pm] Joe: Making it into an offical uspp plank though.
[9:25pm] Joe: Should be short work.
[9:26pm] malt: i don't see it covering anything we don't already have covered
[9:26pm] Joe: Im trying to get the uspp caught up to masspirates
[9:26pm] Joe: Sorry Jamie budget.
[9:27pm] Joe: I would like us to make teeshirts again this year as well as door hangers.
[9:28pm] jokeefe: We also have a position on sex work we approved at the 2018 party conference that should go up: https://masspirates.org/wiki/September_29th,_2018_Party_Conference#Adopted_Resolution_on_Sex_Worker_Rights
[9:28pm] Joe: oOo
[9:29pm] jokeefe: are there other victimless crimes we need to cover?
[9:29pm] Joe: That would be a good plank too.
[9:29pm] Joe: Suicide?
[9:30pm] Joe: https://malegislature.gov/Laws/GeneralLaws/PartII/TitleII/Chapter201d/Section12
[9:30pm] malt: i think it's covered in medical autonomy
[9:32pm] jokeefe: yes death with dignity is covered in https://masspirates.org/blog/ourissues/healthcare-is-a-human-right/
[9:32pm] Joe: Yeah, I think individual autonomy points us in a direction that we should follow.
[9:33pm] Joe: And sorry for the circle think.
[9:34pm] jokeefe: No worries. There is so much to consider.
[9:35pm] Joe: There is quite a bit that we have established here in mass that is needed on the uspp level.
[9:35pm] jokeefe: For the budget, what should we cover?
[9:35pm] jokeefe: * t-shirts and other merch
[9:35pm] jokeefe: * materials
[9:36pm] jokeefe: * admin costs such as the website, domains, etc.
[9:36pm] malt: branded crypto miners
[9:36pm] jokeefe: * mailings to supporters
[9:36pm] jokeefe: lol
[9:36pm] Joe: I would rather us not mail things unless a donation threshold is reached
[9:36pm] jokeefe: OCPF wouldn’t allow that
[9:37pm] jokeefe: however, if there were a separate non-profit
[9:38pm] jokeefe: NFTs?
[9:38pm] Joe: I meant that I would rather not send out snail mails. Stick to digital listings.
[9:39pm] Joe: Less cost and more eco-friendly
[9:39pm] jokeefe: true
[9:39pm] malt: snail mailings are honestly pretty effective and recyclable
[9:40pm] Joe: That's why I would rather do door hangers which will help volunteers hit the pavement
[9:42pm] malt: we don't' really... have a lot of volunteers
[9:42pm] malt: but either way, they're both effective
[9:43pm] Joe: We could do half. I know bulk mailing does get pricey.
[9:44pm] jokeefe: Doing it would be conditional on having the money and evaluating whether it was effective.
[9:44pm] jokeefe: Any other categories?
[9:44pm] jokeefe: * sms outreach
[9:45pm] Joe: Yeah, we are planning on using that.
[9:45pm] Joe: Plus we will probably do another event.
[9:46pm] jokeefe: later in 2022 most likely
