  • Fundraising letter

Summary

Jamie, Noe, Steve attending.

We'd like to contact some allies. Depending on who they are, we'll give one of two pitches:

  • (non-parties). We're looking for people to run for office. Do you know anyone who might be interested in running as a pirate? Would you be willing to ask around your organization?
  • (parties) How can we work together?

We brainstormed a list of groups to reach out to, and divide up the list. Jamie will update the list of volunteers.

We'd like to have a Regional meeting for Greater Boston - West & North. Probably in Late January or Early Feb. We set a tentative date of Feb 6th or Feb 7th. The regions include Somerville, Cambridge, Arlington, Belmont, Waltham (basically, regions where the attendees lives). We will call to get prices and venue information.

Possible locations:

  • Arlington
    • Capitol theatre (Steve)
    • Robbins Library (Steve)
  • Cambridge
    • Democracy Center (Steve)
    • Cambridge Public Library (Noe)
    • Episcopal Church (Noe)
    • Cambridge Y (Noe)
  • Somerville
    • Public Library (Jamie)
    • Somerville Theater (Steve)

After gathering information from the different venues, we should make a Venue Information wiki page, to have as future reference.

We plan to have another strategy meeting on Jan 9th.

We may have another meeting during the latter half of January, if needed to prepare for the regional meeting.

We'd like to have a pirate tech meeting on Jan 6th; this is a Wed. evening.

Jamie will setup pirate pads for the following topics:

  1. e-mail fundraising letter (how we will use the money)
  2. text for campaign site
  3. videos:
    1. why run
    2. planning your campaign
    3. how to get on the ballot
    4. how to gather signatures
  4. quick how to publicize and run a regional meeting document

Steve will work on using lets encrypt for our other sites.

Timeline:

  1. last email of year will be a fundraiser
  2. late Dec. call activists/volunteers
  3. Jan. setup regional meetings
  4. Fundraising letter in late Jan?
    1. With dates of regional meetings
    2. Have date for PirateCon 2015
  5. late Jan./early Feb. hold the regional meetings. Will ask for donations at them by handing out donation envelopes.
