Proposal to change 6.2 & 6.3 of Articles of Agreement

Currently the Pirate Council is made up of the Captain, First Officer, Quartermaster, and a group of at large members that are dependent on the number of members we have.

Swarmwise recommends having Captain, First Officer, Quartermaster as well as PR/Media, Activism, Swarmcare and Web/Info directors.

This proposal would change the composition of the Pirate Council to reflect Swarmwise's recommendation and to change the Winter requirement for election of the Pirate Council/officers to a requirement that it be at our annual conference.

Sections 6.2 and 6.3 of the Articles of Agreement currently read:

6.2 Composition

The Pirate Council shall be composed of three officers, Captain, Quartermaster, 1st Officer, and several at-large members. The number of at-large council members shall be determined by the number of party members:

    1-500 members: 3

    501-5000 members: 5

    5001-25,000 members: 7

    25,001-100,000 members: 9

    100,001+ members: 11

[edit] 6.3 Election

Members shall elect a Pirate Council once a year during the Winter Member Meeting. Ballots as well as voting instructions and the date ballots are to be returned shall be mailed to every member three weeks prior to the election date. Members must be able to submit their secret ballots electronically or by mail. The Captain, Quartermaster and 1st Officer shall be elected using IRV and the at-large members shall be elected by STV-PR as defined in Article 3.0.

This proposal would change the above text to read:

6.2 Composition

The Pirate Council shall be composed of seven members: Captain, Quartermaster, 1st Officer, PR/Media Director, Activism Director, Swarmcare Director and Web/Info Director. The PR/Media, Activism, Swarmcare and Web/Info Directors would be responsible for their particular areas.

[edit] 6.3 Election

Members shall elect a Pirate Council once a year at our annual conference.

Ballots as well as voting instructions and the date ballots are to be returned shall be mailed to every member three weeks prior to the election date. Members must be able to submit their secret ballots electronically or by mail. All members shall be elected using IRV as defined in Article 3.0.
