[9:26pm] Pirate_Joe: One being on SWR with Desmond and Jamie so that we can more discussion time on why this is such an important issue.

[9:27pm] Pirate_Joe: There were a few talks that needed review on SWR that should also be touched upon as well that Desmond can also help discuss.
[9:28pm] DesmondRavenstone: We can talk about focus on privacy, workers rights, and open/accountable govt (police & justice system)
[9:28pm] Pirate_Joe: Or even what would be the best possible situation for all parties involved.
[9:29pm] Pirate_Joe: We also touched upon another topic but it seems I failed to save my notes....
[9:29pm] DesmondRavenstone: Yes. Decrim helps SWers most, but also clients, families of SWers, communities (by refocusing police priorities etc)
[9:29pm] Pirate_Joe: O, here we go
[9:30pm] Pirate_Joe: I wanted to do another video on the election results and what it means to us plebs
[9:30pm] Malt: Wait till the counts are done?
[9:31pm] Pirate_Joe: There is no urgency on the second video, though we could do a video on why the counts are still being done.
[9:31pm] Pirate_Joe: squish out a small 5 minute video just on that topic.
[9:32pm] DesmondRavenstone: IMHO the fact that vote counts are still going on is a major issue to discuss (tech for voting, winner-take-all systems, etc)
[9:32pm] jokeefe: agreed
[9:32pm] jokeefe: and the court case in Maine over IRC
[9:32pm] Pirate_Joe: ^
[9:32pm] jokeefe: IRV

[9:33pm] DesmondRavenstone: Joe perhaps you & I could talk about 1-on-1 interview re SWR?
[9:33pm] DesmondRavenstone: Later in the week via email
[9:34pm] Pirate_Joe: I would be happy to. Typically I form the questions first and let you have them before the interview so that all details of response are easy enough to ensure accuracy.
[9:35pm] DesmondRavenstone: excellent
[9:35pm] Pirate_Joe: The last thing we want to do as a policial party is to spew forth misinformation or 'fire from the hip' as the saying goes.....
[9:35pm] Pirate_Joe: there is currently enough of that going on.
[9:35pm] jokeefe: aye to that
[9:35pm] DesmondRavenstone: In the White House
[9:36pm] DesmondRavenstone: I promise not to have an intern try to take your mic, Joe'
[9:36pm] Pirate_Joe: Depends on how cute the intern is <3

[9:38pm] jokeefe: Newsletter - working on next one. will have out by Thu/Fri
[9:38pm] jokeefe: things to put in it?
[9:39pm] Pirate_Joe: I have one request
[9:39pm] jokeefe: ok
[9:39pm] jokeefe: fire when ready
[9:40pm] Pirate_Joe: https://thewishproject.org/
[9:40pm] Pirate_Joe: I would like to motion to do a drive for this group
[9:41pm] DesmondRavenstone: Is that a "hands outstretched" motion? (sorry, couldn't resist)
[9:42pm] Pirate_Joe: Specifically for food items but people can donate anything that they will accept.  It is a warehouse that support a large number of other shelters and families so during the holiday season it's a good way to get out there.
[9:43pm] jokeefe: So computers?
[9:44pm] Pirate_Joe: They don't take computers, prob due to the fact that they do not want to have a tech on hand to repair them if needed or they were more hassle than they are worth
[9:44pm] Pirate_Joe: But they do take gaming consoles.
[9:44pm] jokeefe: no computer donations - https://thewishproject.org/donations/donate-goods/
[9:45pm] igel: backpacks are always good to donate for kids
[9:45pm] Pirate_Joe: Anything for babies goes really quick though
[9:45pm] jokeefe: Is this specifically Merrimack Valley or statewide?
[9:46pm] igel: oh, im lookin at the.. i think wrong thing
[9:46pm] Pirate_Joe: It started here but if we can generate enough interest perhaps they can get the funding to go state wide.
[9:47pm] Pirate_Joe: Yeah, it's not make a wish, this is for battered families, homeless shelters and food pantries in the area. Just looking to push this as a one time project or even just get people to be aware of it for the holidays to we can pay back karma a bit.
[9:48pm] Pirate_Joe: A good deed goes a long way in proving that we are more than computer wizards.
[9:49pm] Pirate_Joe: well, some of us are more wizardly than others
[9:49pm] jokeefe: I have no problem asking supporters to help them, I just don’t have the bandwidth to write up the statement.

Review

Tech Meeting

  • We had our tech meeting last Sunday.
  • We decided on using Matrix and updated our instance of the client.
  • We created a main discussion group to go with the conference group and put them into their own community. We need to update the landing page of our instance to list the existing groups and tell people about it.
  • Looked at our Loomio instance. The free version is limited to 10 people and larger numbers of people are likely too expensive. The source code is available, but it probably won't work on one of our hosting orders. jokeefe has reached out the the Netherlands Pirates to see how they have used it and what other tools they are using.

Basically how to do graph design & product management with open source tools. Malt will put together a one paragraph description of what we need and we can mail it out to ask pirates to help.
