Improve renters rights: better recourse
Fund outreach to renters and owners about their rights and obligations
Drugs

Treat addiction as a disease not a crime
Continue to support the legalization of cannabis and its use for those it helps
End drug testing for government programs
National Security

Data Privacy: Protecting the privacy of the individual, not the state.

What of GDPR should be here? Not right to be forgotten.
Stop gathering of license plate/surveillance data or expire after X weeks. Do not share with private entities.
Retain public data locally.
Body/police surveillance camera data must be available by the accused at a minimum
Economy
People first; end corporate subsidies

Reduce the time for agencies to respond to requests to 10 days
Consolidate oversight and enforcement of FOIA into one separate agency
Under gov appointed by gov/elected by the people? (look at OCPF?)
Change from legal process to automatic fines for when out of compliance of the law
Use fines pay for bringing agencies into compliance technologically
This saves tax payers money, simplifies the process
Agency would have regulatory power and can set guidelines/rules (technologies/vendors that have worked)
Agency can review rules/tech of other agencies and call them out accountable for non-compliance
Immigration
Make Massachusetts be a sanctuary state
Abolish ICE
Establish a path to citizenship for all immigrants
No taxation without representation; limited voting rights
Should be a judicial process for deportation with true due process
Honor agreements regarding asylum seekers and treat them with dignity and due process
Streamline process to move from one student to worker visa status
Immunity (amnesty?) for immigrants reporting crime
Adopted Resolution on Sex Worker Rights
After making a presentation on the history of sex workers, Desmond Ravenstone proposed the following platform statement:

Consistent with our belief in an open society and individual autonomy, the Massachusetts Pirate Party supports the full decriminalization of consensual sex work, with commercial sex enterprises to be treated like other businesses, and sex workers assured of free expression and free association to organize for their rights, safety and dignity.

We oppose both sex trafficking and the conflation of sex work with trafficking and other forms of coercion, and agree that sex worker organizations need to be involved in efforts to address trafficking.

This proposal was adopted without objection.

[9:06pm] malt: sam capradae, worcester
[9:06pm] Pirate_Joe: Joseph Onoroski, Lowell
[9:06pm] jokeefe: James O’Keefe, Somerville
[9:06pm] jokeefe: anything to add?
[9:06pm] malt: joe, can you ping me before monday's meeting? i should make this one
[9:06pm] Pirate_Joe: I would be happy to.
[9:06pm] malt: thanks buddy, i appreciate it
[9:07pm] malt: nothing to add to the agenda
[9:07pm] jokeefe: thanks, malt.
[9:07pm] jokeefe: Decisions/Endorsements
[9:07pm] jokeefe: Platform
[9:08pm] jokeefe: The IRC meetings have been rather repetitive of late. I would like to devote some time to working on our platform piece by piece.
[9:09pm] Pirate_Joe: Sounds good
[9:09pm] Pirate_Joe: I would also like to pull up something from the table projects and work on them.
[9:09pm] jokeefe: Suggest that next week, assuming we want to have one just be for Thanksgiving, we go through the list from what came out of the Boston discussion and put things in an order
[9:10pm] malt: i like that
[9:10pm] malt: where's the list?
[9:10pm] jokeefe: https://masspirates.org/wiki/March_10th,_2019_Boston_Regional_Meeting
[9:11pm] designanddraft joined the chat room.
[9:11pm] jokeefe: also https://masspirates.org/wiki/September_29th,_2018_Party_Conference
[9:11pm] jokeefe: ahoy designanddraft
[9:11pm] malt: welcome
[9:11pm] designanddraft:
[9:11pm] Pirate_Joe: Ahoy!
[9:11pm] malt: so should we each choose our top 2-3 and send them to the email list?
[9:12pm] jokeefe: we should merge the two lists as a start
[9:13pm] jokeefe: I liked the idea of what do we want to accomplish in the first 100 days, 1 year, 2 years
[9:13pm] malt: definitely good to structure goals
[9:13pm] Pirate_Joe: Just updated meeting notes
[9:13pm] jokeefe: 2 years => long term
[9:14pm] Pirate_Joe: https://masspirates.org/wiki/November_20th,_2019_IRC_Meeting#Platform
[9:15pm] Pirate_Joe: Just uploaded the first/second list
[9:16pm] jokeefe: thanks
[9:17pm] jokeefe: so merge platform docs next week and review wording for a topic each week there after?
[9:18pm] jokeefe: Pirate_Joe, what tabled topic did you want to bring into the agenda?
[9:18pm] Pirate_Joe: Aye, it will be quite the process so we can do a section at a time to reduce the workload
[9:19pm] Pirate_Joe: I would be interested in either Computer Donations or FOSS Tutorials, though I know little about the latter. I would be happy to start a drive to collect computers for use for victims of domestic abuse or struggling families.
[9:20pm] Pirate_Joe: Maybe get them to the Wish Project or the like in major cities around MA
[9:20pm] jokeefe: Computer donations would be a good task
[9:20pm] malt: FOSS tutorials are held up because I haven't had time to sit down, figure out what software farmers would best use, and put together a presentation on it
[9:21pm] jokeefe: malt - would it make sense to reach out to https://www.nofamass.org/ and ask for ideas?
[9:22pm] Pirate_Joe: I would be happy to support you on this matter.
[9:22pm] malt: yeah that's a good idea
[9:22pm] malt: joe promo is my weakest point
[9:23pm] jokeefe: srevilak could probably do a presentation on free software for biz mgmt/accounting
[9:23pm] Pirate_Joe: I just see that we have a high amount of tabled projects. I would like to clear a few and making families in need's holiday wishes by putting together a donated computer would be a great holiday gift.
[9:23pm] designanddraft: i need to shop irc clients, so im jumping in the middle. it actually seems somewhat ontopic, i have an announcement ready but have not had a proper edit, i could paste it here
[9:23pm] Pirate_Joe: jokeefe, could we hold a class and accept donations for the party?
[9:23pm] jokeefe: that is a good point and an excellent goal, Pirate_Joe
[9:25pm] jokeefe: we still need a place to get the computers too, though
[9:25pm] jokeefe: what would you like to share designanddraft?
[9:25pm] Pirate_Joe: I would be happy to organize with the city officials to make something happen.
[9:26pm] malt: i just worry we're gonna end up with a pile of e-waste and no donateable systems
[9:26pm] jokeefe: malt, would you be able to reach out to nofamass?
[9:26pm] malt: yeah i can do that
[9:26pm] jokeefe: thanks
[9:26pm] Pirate_Joe: At least in Lowell. After that, we can focus on Boston, Somerville, etc.
[9:27pm] malt: i've got some other farming contacts that talk about software
[9:27pm] Pirate_Joe: Malt, I have the recycling on lockdown so I'm not worried.
[9:27pm] jokeefe: thanks
[9:27pm] designanddraft: can i text it to pirate joe and can u put it on here easily, i just realized other device
[9:27pm] Pirate_Joe: There will be no wasted parts.
[9:27pm] jokeefe: ok, designanddraft
[9:27pm] malt: hey, wait, for computer pickup, could we talk to cities to talk about diverting potentially usable tech from e-waste streams?
[9:27pm] Pirate_Joe: Not easily, that is on my phone.
[9:28pm] malt: instead of going door to door or what have you
[9:28pm] Pirate_Joe: I was just thinking having it in an open parking lot.
[9:28pm] jokeefe: malt, I think that is a bigger problem. somerville I know handles e-waste.
[9:28pm] Pirate_Joe: Or at each cities perspective city hall.
[9:29pm] malt: i just don't want us doing work that's already been doing, when we could focus our time and resources on repairing the computers for donation
[9:29pm] designanddraft: lol
[9:29pm] malt: i just think, what happens if we end up with a box of cracked, 3-year old smartphones
[9:29pm] malt: is the work to repair the screen really worth the end result?
[9:29pm] jokeefe: I think the idea is for us to call for people to donate old computers/phones/games/etc. pirates would pick the equipment up and bring it to a nonprofit to distribute
[9:29pm] malt: that kind of tech debt builds up
[9:30pm] malt: i just wonder how usable that donated stuff is going to be
[9:30pm] malt: modern tech is a loooot less repairable than it used to be
[9:30pm] jokeefe: repairing screens is a good thing, but not if it costs us $100/device.
[9:30pm] malt: yeah, exactly. especially if nobody's going to want the device in the end
[9:30pm] Pirate_Joe: It won't cost that much unless it's privately done.
[9:31pm] malt: eh, i'm just worrying hypotheticals
[9:31pm] Pirate_Joe: Nor do I wish to turn this in to a business.
[9:31pm] jokeefe: Pirate_Joe, who would you recommend we send the equipment too?
[9:31pm] Pirate_Joe: We can salvage what parts we can and I have plenty of means to dispose of the rest for free.
[9:32pm] designanddraft: The great USA information age update 2020. Its revolutionary, not revolting, u know like a taadaa. I am a candidate for president of the USA. The information age deserves no less than a modern day decision based voting system and a modern day voter. I think we can do it, i think we were ment to do it, and i think u will like it. Mayb we can even st
[9:32pm] designanddraft: art doing it for the holidays this year and get it done by next year. Instead of an election cycle to oblivion, a first true thanksgiving for another reason, a first true sharing of customs and a new peoples money system ready for gift giving.
[9:32pm] designanddraft: New voting system ... www.govby.us
[9:32pm] designanddraft: Between that time til now, when we needed a vast information system in order to achieve more freedom, and the time after, there is an excellent choice beside utopia, anarchy or apocalypse. Do what we set out to do, finish what we started, get on with the show, sh*t or get of the pot.
[9:32pm] designanddraft: 300 and 3000 years ago we were a world of people who dreamt of autonomy from kings. The USA began as a kings battle and quickly became the worlds hope to gain freedoms that would spread to all lands. We then suffered from the human condition as a society, in that we largely replicated what we knew, kings systems. Alas, we were on horseback without
[9:32pm] designanddraft: public information or general education, so in actuality we did better than we could have for a first attempt. Measuring from there however, we still have a kings money system, top down governance, feudal land systems, we have no idea about autonomy, oh and hopefully we can use this colonialized education to get us to the next level.
[9:32pm] designanddraft: Pre-info age, most of us r formally educated with material from before the new age, so there r naturally different kinds of faults. One of the most significant gaps is the tools for navigating the information, navigating what could b refered to as babylon, and navigating what it is to b human. Critical and creative thinking, communication and conse
[9:32pm] designanddraft: nt, fills most of that gap and has us well on the way to navigating the road of freedom.
[9:32pm] designanddraft: So disperse the tools.
[9:32pm] designanddraft: Once the tools get used, a couple of things become evident right away, there is another gap about universal truths, and like they say, that money may b the root of all evil. There is a gap about money too, more to say, there is an overcompensation of math being unrelated to money or decision making.
[9:32pm] designanddraft: Once the info gets used, the evidence starts to become clear of a personal and social tipping point. 40%-60% of people r not alowed to vote. 40%-60% of people who can vote, dont. 40-60% of people who do vote, align independant in the current system.
[9:32pm] malt: you can't really salvage parts anymore
[9:32pm] designanddraft: 40%-60% of people face poverty conditions. 40%-60% of people r or will b below poverty in retirement. 40%-60% of people are or have been jailed. 40%-60% of children and adults r medicated. 40%-60% of wild animals r on the endangered list.
[9:32pm] designanddraft: 40%-60% of jobs r destroying the environment. The people who run our voting system and our money system r even saying now that we need new systems.
[9:32pm] malt: not for anything with a touch screen, at least
[9:32pm] malt: a lot of it is baked into the board, it's not like desktop PCs used to be
[9:33pm] Pirate_Joe: Phones we could just sell on bulk on ebay for a profit.
[9:33pm] Pirate_Joe: just saying
[9:33pm] malt: people buy cracked phones in bulk, on ebay?
[9:33pm] Pirate_Joe: Aye
[9:33pm] Pirate_Joe: It's a sub-markey
[9:33pm] malt: i mean, i think we'd also be liable for the data on these phones
[9:34pm] Pirate_Joe: Not if we wipe them with a large magnet <3
[9:34pm] malt: so we'd have to scrub them, which for some is going to mean having to deal with broken screens
[9:34pm] malt: huh, that still works
[9:34pm] malt: ?
[9:34pm] Pirate_Joe: lol, not really
[9:34pm] jokeefe: how about this. Pirate_Joe, would you write up what we want to ask supporters to do and what we would do with it?
[9:35pm] malt: afk
[9:35pm] Pirate_Joe: I would be happy to, but I may not have it done quickly. Depends on how next week goes.
[9:35pm] designanddraft: u r in the city, correct?
[9:35pm] jokeefe: many mass. pirates are in cities
[9:36pm] Pirate_Joe: Btw, Designanddraft, thank you for the update
[9:36pm] designanddraft: i mean about the computer donations
[9:36pm] Pirate_Joe: Lots of Cities here though.
[9:36pm] Pirate_Joe: I would focus on the larger cities at first.
[9:37pm] Pirate_Joe: Using my home as a test bed for it.
[9:37pm] jokeefe: thanks, Pirate_Joe.
[9:37pm] designanddraft: so u r talking about state wide computer donations and distributions?
[9:37pm] malt: pirate party meetup tenatively scheduled jan 17th 7pm at stone soup
[9:37pm] malt: but stone soup might collapse before then
[9:37pm] malt: afk again
[9:38pm] jokeefe: oh no!
[9:38pm] jokeefe: thanks malt. I will add it to the calendar and plan to be there.
