Minutes

21:16 <@jokeefe> Oh, ok. It should be live now.
21:16 <@jokeefe> ahoy srevilak
21:16 < Joe> I can but currently under lock down
21:16 < Joe> ahoy
21:16 < srevilak> hi all, just saw email that we were meeting tonight
21:16 < Malt> Welcome!
21:17 <@jokeefe> no worries.
21:17 <@jokeefe> Schedule look good for you?
      https://masspirates.org/wiki/November_4th,_2020_IRC_Meeting#Set_schedule_for_the_conference
21:17 <@jokeefe> If you can edit the video Joe, that would be great.
21:18 < srevilak> Looks good
21:18 < Joe> can you upload it to mass youtube as a private video?
21:18 <@jokeefe> great
21:19 <@jokeefe> I would need to download the video first from youtube
21:21 <@jokeefe> Choose date to date video conference software
21:21 < Joe> is it on there already on there?
21:21 <@jokeefe> I have the account for the video conference
software. When could we test it?
21:21 < srevilak> What is "date to date video conference software"?
21:22 <@jokeefe> srevilak, did we agree to try Saturday at 11am?
21:22 < srevilak> Not sure, but I can make it
21:22 <@jokeefe> corrected - Choose date to test video conference software
21:23 < srevilak> ah!
21:23 <@jokeefe> Joe, could you do a test Saturday at 11am?
21:23 <@jokeefe> Also Malt?
21:24 < Joe> Right before the conference?
21:24 <@jokeefe> I updated OS and now IRC chat doesn’t automatically
      show the latest messages
21:24 <@jokeefe> Week before the conference
21:24 <@jokeefe> this Saturday
21:25 < Malt> I can, yes
21:25 < Malt> That's a fun bug!
21:25 < Joe> I can do a test this weekend but will be quite distracted.
21:25 <@jokeefe> Have to keep scrolling up, Malt. It is a bit annoying.
21:26 < Joe> should not be an issue so long as it is only a test.
21:26 <@jokeefe> Saturday, 11am it is. Will send out email to
      democracy/activists lists
21:26 <@jokeefe> Projects
21:27 <@jokeefe> Video Newsletter/Podcast - Sunday 7pm recording ok?
21:27 < Malt> Yup!
21:27 < srevilak> yes
21:28 < Joe> Aye
21:28 <@jokeefe> Topic ideas?
21:28 < Joe> Pirate conference really.
21:29 < srevilak> Does the rise and fall of fascism occur in cycles?
21:29 < srevilak> Too much?
21:29 < Joe> like the tides
21:29 <@jokeefe> Pirate conference promo would be good
21:29 <@jokeefe> srevilak, lol
21:29 < Joe> on a scale of human social memory.
21:30 < srevilak> Make 1946 great again!
21:30 <@jokeefe> seems too early to discuss it going out with the tides
21:30 <@jokeefe> aye, srevilak
21:30 < Joe> lol
21:30 < srevilak> One of my co-workers thinks it's a 100-year tide.
So, just starting to come in
21:31 * Joe sighs.
21:31 < Malt> I thought it was 250ish
21:31 < srevilak> Malt: Think 1920's
21:31 < Malt> Oh
21:31 < Malt> Hm
21:31 < srevilak> shit ...
21:32 < srevilak> Sorry, I'm just grumpy tonight
21:32 < Joe> Biden is winning at least.
21:32 <@jokeefe> got the popular vote at least
21:32 < Joe> silver linings
21:33 < Joe> this year the choice was either crazy or senile.
21:33 < Joe> lets really start preparing for running candidates again
21:34 <@jokeefe> aye that
21:34 <@jokeefe> Democracy and Dogfood (Tech) - meeting set for 11am sat.
21:35 < Malt> Pissed we lost q2
21:35 <@jokeefe> Regional Meetings/Events - Party Conference
21:35 <@jokeefe> Setup an etherpad:
      https://etherpad.pp-international.net/p/MAPP2020PartyConferencePlanning
21:36 < srevilak> Malt: yeah, Q2 was disappointing
21:36 <@jokeefe> Agree Malt, but it took three ballot initiatives to get
greyhound racing banned. I think there are things we can do to improve
      the results next time.
21:38 <@jokeefe> They only got proportional representation in New Zealand
when they kept electing minority governments with FPTP.
21:38 < Malt> Get it on the front page? I heard some folk didn't turn
      theirs over
21:38 < Joe> a lot of people seemed to be misinformed about RCV. they
think the old system has work for 200+ years, why change...
21:38 <@jokeefe> That would help
21:39 <@jokeefe> Will have to look at the official results and see how
      many didn’t make a choice.
21:39 < srevilak> What read do you get from this map:
      https://www.bostonglobe.com/elections/2020/ma/Question/2%20-%20Create%20Ranked-Choice%20Voting/
21:40 <@jokeefe> Doesn’t list abstains, unfortunately.
21:41 < srevilak> I was thinking more in terms of the clusters of cities
that voted yes, vs the ones that didn't
21:41 <@jokeefe> good point
21:43 <@jokeefe> Boston area Rt 2 corridor and Pioneer Valley, parts of
      the Berkshires
21:43 < srevilak> Compare with Q1:
      https://www.bostonglobe.com/elections/2020/ma/Question/1%20-%20Amend%20Right%20to%20Repair%20Law/
21:43 < Malt> The dem establishment seemed lukewarm
21:43 < srevilak> Of cities reporting, Georgetown is the only one that
      went no
21:45 <@jokeefe> Springfield total vote is 47,000, which seems small
21:46 < srevilak> Indeed. Population is 153k
21:46 < Joe> I do not have much to add tonight, sorry. very distracted
by my son whom is still awake.
21:46 < Malt> I can't focus worth a single gosh darn
21:48 <@jokeefe> Let’s end then. Please add conference planning items
      to https://etherpad.pp-international.net/p/MAPP2020PartyConferencePlanning
21:49 < srevilak> will do
21:49 < srevilak> Next, off to $work call at 22:00.
21:49 < srevilak> will post transcript
