Summary

Minutes

21:00 < srevilak> hi jokeefe and igel
21:01 < jokeefe> hi
21:01 < jokeefe> sorry, bit behind on getting the agenda out
21:02 < srevilak> No worries. I think the weather has put all of
        us behind
21:04 < igel> hi all
21:06 < jokeefe> Agenda -
        https://masspirates.org/wiki/February_19th,_2015_IRC_Meeting
21:07 < jokeefe> ids - James O’Keefe, Somerville
21:07 < srevilak> Steve Revilak, Arlington
21:08 < jokeefe> anyone downloaded the 10million password file that got
released to see if your (old) passwords are there?
21:08 < srevilak> no, but I'd be curious to look
21:08 < igel> yep
21:10 < srevilak> Provided of course, that looking won't get you slapped
        with CFCA violation
21:10 < srevilak> oops CFAA violation (computer fraud and abuse act)
21:10 < jokeefe> Yeah, been wondering about how the CFAA applies,
especially when you can get time for linking to such data
21:11 < srevilak> exactly
21:11 < jokeefe> wonder if someone made a searchable database that you
        can put your ids into
21:12 < srevilak> https://haveibeenpwned.com/
21:12 < srevilak> This was demo'd at last weeks security meetup
21:12 < srevilak> Fellow from microsoft collects data dumps and pastes,
extracts email addresses, and allows you to check for yours
21:12 < jokeefe> nice!
21:13 < srevilak> The speaker demonstrating this showed how her info
        was expatriated from Adobe
21:13 < jokeefe> like the top 10 breeches
21:14 < jokeefe> The WMass cryptoparty went well?
21:14 < srevilak> Yes, it was a nice event
21:15 < srevilak> 10 showed up. 4 from eastern MA, six from western
21:15 < srevilak> snow started falling about an hour before the event
ended. Slow ride home, but not bad
21:15 < srevilak> Space was good, and your projector worked just fine
21:15 < jokeefe> dinner cancelled?
21:16 < srevilak> No, we just did dinner quickly. It was a pizza place
2--3 blocks away
21:16 < srevilak> I think we had 7 for dinner
21:16 < jokeefe> good. what was the discussion like?
21:17 < srevilak> We were split over two tables. At mine, we had a nice
chat about this history of common law
21:19 < jokeefe> any idea how people heard about it?
21:19 < srevilak> Three (guy and two kids) heard about it from our
        mailing list, website
21:20 < srevilak> lisbon knows because he helped organize it
21:20 < srevilak> one fellow saw the ad on Craigslist
21:20 < jokeefe> is that in the report?
21:20 < srevilak> No, but can add
21:21 < jokeefe> thanks, we should make a point of asking if we can.
21:22 < jokeefe> Peace Parade & Worcester Cryptoparty posts up. Have a
sign up form for Peace Parade
21:22 < jokeefe> This time I hooked it into CiviCRM
21:22 < srevilak> nice!
21:22 < jokeefe> Wondering if we can setup a template that we can copy
and modify instead of creating from scratch everytime
21:23 < srevilak> jokeefe: yes, there are templates. Have to sit down
and figure out how they work
21:23 < srevilak> If we get a pass on snowfall this weekend, planning
to spend some time with civi
21:24 < srevilak> (as opposed to spending all day growing my snowpile)
21:25 < jokeefe> lol
21:25 < srevilak>
        https://social.mayfirst.org/file/purplebandanna-20150216-snowpile-eqfq.jpg
21:25 < jokeefe> might I come by and take a look at civi with you?
21:26 < srevilak> Sure. Maybe after Allison's workshop at SPL?
21:26 < jokeefe> hope to go to that
21:26 < jokeefe> sounds good
21:27 < jokeefe> shovelling the roof, twice, was fun
21:28 < jokeefe> thanks for registering us for the pride parade
21:28 < srevilak> np
21:29 < jokeefe> PirateCon 2015 - Program
21:29 < jokeefe> Thinking that Pirate Strategy should be more of an
        open discussion
21:30 < jokeefe> maybe with an intro to pirate politics
21:30 < srevilak> Sounds good to me
21:31 < jokeefe> Any update on the other topics?
21:31 < srevilak> nothing from my end
21:31 < srevilak> sorry
21:33 < jokeefe> thanks, hopefully in the next two weeks
21:38 < jokeefe> Body Cams bill -
        http://warrantless.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/SD1546-An-Act-Promoting-Use-of-Body-Worn-Cameras-By-Law-Enforcement.pdf
21:40 < srevilak> thanks for pointer. Will take me a little while to
        read through that
21:40 < jokeefe> Militarization bill is at
        http://warrantless.org/2015/01/hd430/
21:40 < jokeefe> Text is much shorter
21:42 < jokeefe> thought we could review the militarization bill at
least - see what we think of it
21:43 < srevilak> I like Alex's bill -- it pushes the decision to the
        city/town's normal decision making body
21:43 < jokeefe> yes, and covers IMSI catchers
21:44 < srevilak> I notice that assault weapons aren't on the list
21:45 < jokeefe> or machine guns
21:46 < srevilak> Also, does it exempt state police?
21:46 < srevilak> (are the state police a "police department or regional
        police district"?)
21:46 < jokeefe> apparently
21:47 < jokeefe> since only city or town
21:48 < srevilak> I still support the proposed bill -- it's a positive
        step
21:50 < jokeefe> agreed. still should bring those points up
21:52 < jokeefe> anyway, I can put posts up for each and solicit comments
21:52 < srevilak> sounds great!
21:53 < srevilak> I'll try to go through body camera bill over the next
        few days
21:53 < jokeefe> that is all I have for now. Anything you want to
        bring up?
21:54 < srevilak> nothing at the moment.
21:54 < jokeefe> shall we adjourn?
21:54 < srevilak> igel: anything going on with you?
21:58 < srevilak> If nothing else, I motion to adjourn
21:58 < jokeefe> 2nd
21:58 < jokeefe> aye
21:58 < jokeefe> would you post the log srevilak?
21:58 < srevilak> will do
