[9:10pm] Pirate_Joe: Aye, but for next week's agenda.
[9:10pm] Pirate_Joe: May I present it to you at the end?
[9:10pm] jokeefe: sure
[9:10pm] jokeefe: Decisions/Endorsements
[9:11pm] jokeefe: Restore the 4th and several other groups found out that the FBI has been watching them.
[9:12pm] jokeefe: Someone filed a FOIA with them asking for documents they had on various groups
[9:12pm] malt: norhing to add
[9:12pm] malt: that's fucking wild!
[9:13pm] jokeefe: initially they said they nothing, but the person filed an appeal
[9:13pm] jokeefe: the appeal came back with a few orgs with a “cannot confirm or deny we have docs”
[9:14pm] jokeefe: including Restore the 4th
[9:14pm] igel_: This cycle, we’re analyzing candidates’ track records and statements with respect to seven factors: (a) NSA surveillance; (b) FBI surveillance of domestic dissent; (c) DHS border surveillance; (d) police accountability; (e) commercial privacy and online publisher liability; (f) encryption; and (g) attitude to national security whistleblowers.

[9:16pm] igel_: > She strongly supported the protesters at Standing Rock, and has argued for substantial demilitarization of the police
[9:17pm] jokeefe: anyhow they are writing a letter objecting to being spied on since they are exercising their constitutional rights
[9:17pm] jokeefe: and are looking for groups to sign on
[9:18pm] malt: we should deffo sign on
[9:18pm] malt: could we setup an automated script to help other groups FOIA request their own information?
[9:18pm] malt: to get an idea of how widespread this is?
[9:19pm] jokeefe: there were over 100 orgs. only about 8 did not receive a “we don’t have any docs” answer, but that is a good idea
[9:20pm] jokeefe: do others agree we should sign on?
[9:20pm] Pirate_Joe: Aye, I am curious if we made the list.
[9:21pm] jokeefe: we weren’t on the list
[9:21pm] jokeefe: but that doesn’t mean we couldn’t have our own request
[9:26pm] jokeefe: I can ask about it
[9:27pm] jokeefe: so we are in agreement to sign on ot the letter, and we should atleast file our own FOIA
[9:28pm] Pirate_Joe: Restore the fourth is in line with our commitment to individual's right to privacy, I think it is wise we show our solidarity with them.
[9:28pm] jokeefe: Amazon Ring Local PD partnerships
[9:28pm] jokeefe: It looks like a bunch of police departments have agreements with Amazon Ring
[9:29pm] jokeefe: Including Westfield, Malden and Haverhill
[9:30pm] igel_: id prefer more cameras aimed at police
[9:31pm] malt: that's fun and not orwellian at all
[9:31pm] malt: i;ve considered asking worcester to make public any discussion on that front but i've not really had a moment to write the appeal
[9:31pm] jokeefe: that would be good.
[9:32pm] malt: can we find the language other towns are using to pass bans
[9:32pm] malt: and put it on the blog as a template?
[9:33pm] Pirate_Joe: And send to SAB and Activist lists?
[9:33pm] jokeefe: The ACLU has a template, I believe
[9:34pm] jokeefe: I’ll find the list of towns
[9:36pm] jokeefe: Post a statement?
[9:36pm] malt: thanks!
[9:36pm] malt: sure
[9:36pm] Pirate_Joe: Please

[9:38pm] jokeefe: Next Statement on War on Iran?
[9:39pm] jokeefe: (potential)
[9:39pm] Pirate_Joe: Looks like both sides are trying to deescalate
[9:39pm] malt: hope soooooo
[9:39pm] jokeefe: hopefully
[9:39pm] jokeefe: National is talking about issuing a statement
[9:39pm] Pirate_Joe: The fired missiles that didn't go off for the most part.
[9:39pm] jokeefe: could just sign on to it
[9:40pm] Pirate_Joe: They*
[9:40pm] Pirate_Joe: Seems like both sides are trying to save face tbh
[9:41pm] Pirate_Joe: There have been additional attacks but it does not look like it's directly from Iran
[9:44pm] jokeefe: so wait for National?
[9:44pm] Pirate_Joe: that is tonight, correct?
[9:45pm] jokeefe: no next wednesday
[9:46pm] Pirate_Joe: By then we could be left in the dust. I move to tweet out something quick and in support of those whom have been hurt and killed in all attacks by all parties.
[9:47pm] Pirate_Joe: Including the plane shot down over Iran
[9:48pm] Pirate_Joe: https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/63-canadians-dead-iran-plane-crash-68141823
[9:49pm] malt: write one up? i doubt anyone would object
[9:49pm] jokeefe: Could have been a mechanical failure. too early to tell
[9:49pm] Pirate_Joe: I would be happy to send out a tweet tonight if you all agree.
[9:49pm] jokeefe: Seems strange they would shoot down an airliner that was purposefully traveling in their airspace from their air port
[9:50pm] jokeefe: Trying to move away from just tweeting. Could you post it on the blog?
[9:51pm] Pirate_Joe: On the mass pirate page?
[9:51pm] jokeefe: yes
[9:54pm] jokeefe: or you can send it to the list for comment.
[9:56pm] Pirate_Joe: I prefer to send to the list first, for corrections
[9:56pm] jokeefe: thanks
[9:56pm] Pirate_Joe: That and I do not think I ever accessed the blog on our page either
[9:56pm] jokeefe: The next two items can wait until next week.
[9:57pm] jokeefe: since they aren’t pressing
[9:57pm] jokeefe: Regional Meetings/Events
[9:57pm] jokeefe: Malt did you get a chance to look for a new location for the Worcester meetup?
[9:58pm] malt: was gonna check with a brewery called Revolution Pie & Pint
[9:58pm] jokeefe: got food?
[9:58pm] jokeefe: nevermind
[9:59pm] jokeefe: see the Pie
[9:59pm] jokeefe: sounds good
[9:59pm] malt: and beer!
[9:59pm] Pirate_Joe: Pie is good
[9:59pm] malt: they're kinda. . . fancy. . . though
[9:59pm] malt: gonna check costs
