We had a brief discussion with JTIII about a Net Neutrality campaign in the EU. We try to help him make some connections.
Aaron James fundraiser. We had ~ 16 attending, and raised some money for BSafe. Some good talks on policy. Audio of the talks is posted to the Internet Archive
Jamie was on the Young Jurks with Muckrock. Audio for the show should be posted soon. Mostly about FOIA and Government Transparency. Also some discussion about Marijuana legalization and civil asset forfeiture.
PirateCon 2016. It's this Saturday! Noe is bringing camera. Steve will set up streaming widget on website. Steve plans to arrive at 9:00, and will be largely focused on tech. We'll need to find someone to man the registration table. Logistics Prep. For reference last year's logistics.
Pirate picnic. We're thinking of taking the 11:00 ferry for a noon arrival on George's Island.
[9:01pm] jokeefe: agenda - https://masspirates.org/wiki/June_19th,_2016_IRC_Meeting [9:01pm] jokeefe: ids - James O’Keefe, Somerville [9:02pm] srevilak: Steve Revilak, Arlington [9:02pm] JTIII: Joe Thornton, Boston [9:03pm] jokeefe: Anything anyone wants to add to the agenda? [9:04pm] srevilak: I think `conference' is a good agenda topic. Though perhaps we can spend a few minutes on EU net neutrality (if JTIII would like) [9:05pm] JTIII: I just wanted to ask very briefly at some point about how I might get in touch with the Pirates in Europe. [9:06pm] jokeefe: http://europeanpirateparty.eu/ [9:06pm] srevilak: You can also try http://www.pp-international.net/ [9:07pm] srevilak: You can also try reaching out to https://twitter.com/senficon (Pirate MEP) [9:07pm] JTIII: cool. I sent some emails around today, just wanted to make sure I had everything covered. [9:08pm] srevilak: I know a fellow in Munich that used to involve with the German PP. I'll see if still is [9:09pm] jokeefe: might contact state parties. davidd is from the Netherlands. He is probably asleep now, but if you join #uspp tomorrow, he will be on. I will also forward your email to him directly and cc you. [9:09pm] JTIII: that would be awesome! I am glad I stopped in to ask. [9:09pm] jokeefe: I’ll also dig up my German and UK contacts [9:09pm] jokeefe: Review - Aaron James Campaign Fundraiser [9:09pm] JTIII: Thanks. I really appreciate it. [9:10pm] • srevilak will put up a blog post after the meeting [9:10pm] srevilak: (ajames fundraiser) [9:11pm] jokeefe: thanks [9:12pm] jokeefe: It went well. I believe 16 people attended. Good speeches and he helped raise money for worthy organizations. [9:13pm] srevilak: Audio is up at https://archive.org/details/AaronJamesFundraiserAndCampaignPolicyKickoff [9:14pm] jokeefe: I also appeared on the Young Jurks with MuckRock. Good conversation. Hopefully it will be up soon. [9:16pm] srevilak: what was the topic of the young jurks show? [9:16pm] jokeefe: Mostly about FOIA and government transparency, but also about cannabis legalization and civil asset forfeiture [9:18pm] jokeefe: PirateCon 2016 [9:18pm] jokeefe: This Saturday [9:19pm] jokeefe: I emailed members. Will send a reminder. [9:19pm] jokeefe: Also emailed act-ma [9:19pm] jokeefe: looking for other venues [9:19pm] jokeefe: been posting blog entries [9:19pm] srevilak: How about the occupy boston everyone list? [9:20pm] jokeefe: Noe said she signed out a camera so we will need to factor that in [9:20pm] srevilak: Or maybe not -- Occupy wasn't big on supporting any policitical parties [9:20pm] srevilak: jokeefe: ok: will have a set of audio outputs for her [9:21pm] jokeefe: Well, there are lots of topics, not just politics [9:22pm] srevilak: act-ma is probably a bigger list [9:22pm] jokeefe: yes, though most of them were getting dropped into gmail’s spam filter until recently [9:22pm] srevilak: If noe can record video, that will simplify things from the streaming side (i.e., I can stream, and not have to worry about video) [9:24pm] jokeefe: Do we have a page we can point people to now? [9:24pm] srevilak: Not yet -- project for tomorrow [9:24pm] jokeefe: thanks [9:24pm] srevilak: Plan was to put streaming widget on top of the conference page [9:25pm] srevilak: with blog post pointing to streaming widget [9:26pm] jokeefe: sounds good. [9:29pm] srevilak: In terms of Piratecon, I plan to arrive at 9:00, and mostly be focused on tech stuff [9:29pm] jokeefe: Good [9:29pm] srevilak: We'll need someone to man the welcome table [9:30pm] jokeefe: Perhaps js0000 / Ben could help you [9:30pm] srevilak: Will ask on activists list [9:30pm] jokeefe: cool [9:30pm] jokeefe: Will contact the list about watching the table. [9:30pm] jokeefe: Figure Noe will have the camera [9:31pm] srevilak: Yes, and this year we should be able to get an audience perspective [9:31pm] srevilak: should we start pad for `stuff to bring'? [9:31pm] jokeefe: Created - https://piratenpad.de/p/MAPPPirateCon2016 [9:35pm] jokeefe: (editing) [9:35pm] srevilak: As reference: here's last years list https://piratenpad.de/p/2015PirateConSiteDetails [9:39pm] srevilak: Since noe is bringing a camera, I'll eschew the web cam. Audio streaming has proven to be more reliable than audio + video [9:43pm] jokeefe: Backups are good [9:44pm] srevilak: ok, will do both [9:44pm] jokeefe: thanks [9:44pm] jokeefe: will email out the pad and see who can do what [9:45pm] jokeefe: Pirate Picnic - we have a location and date [9:45pm] jokeefe: plan arrival at noon (ferry at 11am), with possible advance team to claim a spot? [9:46pm] jokeefe: Or get there at 1pm (or later) when it is a bit cooler [9:46pm] srevilak: Noon arrival seems okay [9:49pm] jokeefe: ok, then ferry at 11am [9:49pm] jokeefe: that is all I have [9:50pm] srevilak: nothing else here, other than a busy week ahead [9:50pm] srevilak: motion to adjourn? [9:51pm] jokeefe: aye [9:51pm] jokeefe: all in favor? [9:52pm] srevilak: aye [9:52pm] jokeefe: aye [9:52pm] jokeefe: do you think we need this way posters? [9:52pm] jokeefe: for piratecon [9:53pm] srevilak: Hmm, there is a guard in the reception area. So perhaps not [9:54pm] jokeefe: Have you gotten the wifi details? [9:54pm] srevilak: Nothing beyond our conversation with the front desk, during our visit [9:55pm] jokeefe: we should get that [9:55pm] srevilak: may I impose on you for that? [9:55pm] jokeefe: plus any rules they want us to abide by [9:55pm] jokeefe: sure, who should I contact? [9:55pm] jokeefe: just email me [9:55pm] srevilak: Probably mel king. Will send you his email [9:56pm] jokeefe: thanks [9:56pm] jokeefe: motion adjourn passes [9:57pm] jokeefe: I can post the transcript [9:57pm] srevilak: thx
