[9:01pm] jokeefe: agenda: https://masspirates.org/wiki/March_19th,_2015_IRC_Meeting [9:01pm] jokeefe: I know srevilak will be along in a bit [9:01pm] jokeefe: going to find noe [9:03pm] igel: k [9:06pm] noe joined the chat room. [9:06pm] noe: ahoy! [9:06pm] jokeefe: ahoy! [9:06pm] noe: Noelani Kamelamela, Somerville, MA [9:06pm] noe: [9:06pm] jokeefe: right ids - James O’Keefe, Somerville [9:07pm] jokeefe: agenda - https://masspirates.org/wiki/March_19th,_2015_IRC_Meetinghttps://masspirates.org/wiki/March_19th,_2015_IRC_Meeting [9:07pm] jokeefe: https://masspirates.org/wiki/March_19th,_2015_IRC_Meeting [9:07pm] jokeefe: srevilak is at a candidate night so will be late [9:07pm] jokeefe: Review [9:08pm] jokeefe: how did the Mar. 18, SCATV Pirate Show go, noe? [9:08pm] noe: SCATV panel last night went great! [9:08pm] igel: lo [9:08pm] noe: I know Lucia isn't here right now, but she did excellent work getting the panellists together [9:08pm] js0000: johnny saylor wilds of waltham [9:08pm] jokeefe: yay! [9:08pm] noe: I'll be editing it with a Producer this weekend and next week, we hope to get it out to the public by next week Wednesday [9:09pm] noe: Its gonna be a little rough, in terms of editing, but the audience and the crew liked it a lot. [9:09pm] igel: naice [9:09pm] jokeefe: great. any possibility we can get any of the last few up to stream/torrent? [9:09pm] noe: I tried uploading to our YouTube channel once, but we needed a confirmation code which supposedly went to someone's phone . . . [9:10pm] noe: The files are not prohibitively large, but t would be easier to upload directly from SCATV probably [9:10pm] jokeefe: should we try that this weekend? [9:10pm] noe: Sure, note about SCATV hours: Saturday only 10am-4pm [9:11pm] jokeefe: ok, lets talk off line about when [9:11pm] jokeefe: what is the topic for next week? [9:11pm] noe: We could also attempt an upload from an actual fast computer someday . . . transferring will take some time. [9:12pm] jokeefe: willing to help with that [9:12pm] noe: we don't have one! [9:12pm] jokeefe: I hear a blog post [9:12pm] noe: Sam Tracy recommended cannabis, but I blew my proverbial load writing/poking producers/editing, so I am up for anything [9:12pm] noe: I wish I could make it to the Cryptoparty this weekend to record [9:13pm] noe: Or LibrePlanet [9:13pm] js0000: fsf is recording libre planet [9:13pm] noe: Oooh! [9:13pm] igel: ah nice [9:13pm] noe: Hey, if we can take some of that and edit it down, that would work [9:13pm] js0000: streaming too [9:13pm] jokeefe: I could record the cryptoparty, possibly [9:13pm] noe: that would be awesome [9:13pm] noe: [9:14pm] jokeefe: will see what I can do [9:14pm] jokeefe: since no srevilak yet, will skip Mar. 19, Arlington Candidate Night [9:14pm] jokeefe: PirateCon 2015 [9:15pm] jokeefe: Third Party panel is set, folks just want time [9:15pm] noe: Suggested times? [9:15pm] jokeefe: anytime between 10am-6pm, IIRC [9:16pm] jokeefe: or 9am-6pm? let me look [9:16pm] Kendra joined the chat room. [9:16pm] noe: ahoy! [9:17pm] Kendra: Hi Everyone [9:17pm] jokeefe: ahoy! [9:17pm] jokeefe: hmm… think setup is 9am-10am, then 10am-6pm [9:18pm] noe: Personally, I suggest 2pm [9:18pm] jokeefe: Have two people for Rethinking the City at least one one for Net Neutrality, but he would be very good. [9:18pm] jokeefe: So I put this up to work on the schedule https://piratenpad.de/p/2015PirateConSchedule [9:18pm] noe: I think 3rd Party is large enough with enough people that we should put it in a good slot [9:19pm] noe: Post lunch, and when everyone should be awake [9:20pm] js0000: i always want to nap after lunch ... [9:21pm] noe: hmm . . . right before lunch? this way we can cut them short if its going on too long? (so many possibilities) [9:21pm] jokeefe: perhaps we should allow for that. put the lightning talks after lunch to get everyone jazzed? [9:21pm] js0000: yeah, short after lunch seems good [9:22pm] js0000: short talks after lunch, sorry for language problems [9:23pm] jokeefe: it struck me that the most people were in the morning. is that your recollections? [9:23pm] js0000: i thought it was good all day ... [9:24pm] noe: we should get elections going early, then [9:25pm] noe: we could split time with lightning talks to do elections [9:26pm] jokeefe: works for me [9:27pm] jokeefe: We will see what the panelists have to say [9:27pm] noe: the schedule is looking good! [9:28pm] jokeefe: not sure the third party panel should be so early [9:29pm] noe: 3pm? [9:29pm] noe: switch with Rethinking the City? [9:29pm] jokeefe: not sure [9:29pm] noe: Its midday, and post elections . . . [9:30pm] noe: 2pm will be immediately post elections [9:30pm] noe: assuming those will go up to the hour [9:30pm] jokeefe: guess it will depend on what the panelists can do as well [9:30pm] noe: we can also change it up according to availability [9:30pm] Kendra: I think waiting until later for the 3rd party panel will keep people around longer. [9:31pm] jokeefe: if we go with one person doing the net neutrality topic then that could be the keynote [9:31pm] Kendra: Will it be at 2 pm [9:31pm] jokeefe: and start things off after a short intro [9:34pm] jokeefe: how does this look https://piratenpad.de/p/2015PirateConSchedule [9:35pm] js0000: maybe candidates before lunch? [9:35pm] noe: I think it looks good. hope our panellists concur [9:35pm] js0000: it looks good anyway! [9:36pm] jokeefe: depends if our potential key note speaker is good with it. will know by tomorrow hopefully. [9:37pm] jokeefe: It think it gives more time for lightning talks, but too much time? [9:38pm] noe: did lightning talks take ~40 mins last Con? [9:38pm] igel: more or less yea [9:39pm] noe: that's probably a good indicator of how long they'll take [9:39pm] srevilak joined the chat room. [9:39pm] noe: ahoy! [9:39pm] • srevilak waves to everyone [9:39pm] jokeefe: lightning talks went over [9:39pm] jokeefe: not much padding here [9:39pm] jokeefe: https://piratenpad.de/p/2015PirateConSchedule [9:39pm] jokeefe: ahoy srevilak [9:39pm] srevilak: jokeefe: thx [9:39pm] igel: over 60min? [9:40pm] jokeefe: ~65-70 min [9:40pm] jokeefe: IIRC [9:40pm] igel: i believe it [9:40pm] jokeefe: we were better this time. The first con we really lost our schedule [9:41pm] • js0000 waves back [9:41pm] jokeefe: what do you think srevilak? looking at the doc [9:41pm] jokeefe: Might due net neutrality as a key note / discussion [9:41pm] srevilak: I like schedule #1. Everything falls evenly on the hour [9:41pm] srevilak: order seems good too [9:42pm] srevilak: for 1pm slot, might swap order: candidates speeches & elections, then lightning talks [9:42pm] srevilak: (just to break up lightning talks) [9:43pm] jokeefe: sure [9:43pm] srevilak: where does amending the officer structure fit into agenda? [9:44pm] jokeefe: amending? [9:44pm] srevilak: sorry, pirate council, not officer [9:44pm] jokeefe: to add fundraising? [9:45pm] srevilak: we decided on several new positions (media, swarm management, etc) [9:45pm] srevilak: doesn't that need to be approved @conference? [9:45pm] jokeefe: we already decided that, IIRC. [9:45pm] noe: we can mention it, though! may hve to mention it for elections [9:46pm] noe: sooo many positions [9:46pm] jokeefe: of course [9:46pm] srevilak: sorry, I misunderstood "elections" (pirate elections, not general/town elections) [9:46pm] srevilak: duh [9:46pm] jokeefe: no worries [9:47pm] jokeefe: do you think an hour is enough time to discuss pirate strategy for 2016? [9:47pm] srevilak: Hour might be tight [9:47pm] noe: an hour would be like a teaser [9:47pm] noe: or a trailer [9:47pm] noe: but not the real thing [9:48pm] js0000: maybe could spill over afterwards elsewhere for interested parties [9:48pm] noe: great suggestion! [9:48pm] jokeefe: dinner, works for me [9:48pm] srevilak: dinner sounds good to me too [9:49pm] jokeefe: could have strategy sessions in other parts of the state later on. ask people at the session to step up and coordinate location/time [9:49pm] jokeefe: So, Schedule A then? [9:50pm] srevilak: A looks good to me [9:50pm] jokeefe: how are we for people for the Income Inequality panel? [9:51pm] srevilak: Have one firm, one very likely [9:51pm] srevilak: firm = socialist alternative [9:51pm] noe: [9:51pm] js0000: also, did you find out anything about network, srevilak? [9:51pm] srevilak: likely = a group called wageaction [9:52pm] jokeefe: could ask jobs with justice, should I ask? [9:52pm] srevilak: js0000: no. Will call tomorrow [9:52pm] srevilak: jokeefe: wrote jobs with justice. Never heard back [9:53pm] jokeefe: hmmm… might see who I can ask [9:53pm] Kendra: Any of the local unions, you should talk to Steve Kirshenbaum of the bus driver's union [9:53pm] srevilak: also never heard back from Mass NOW, 15 now new england, lesley university, dollars and sense [9:53pm] jokeefe: noe, would you be the pirate rep on the Third Party panel? [9:53pm] srevilak: Kendra: if you have contact info, could you send? [9:53pm] Kendra: I will see what Ican find [9:54pm] jokeefe: thank you, Kendra [9:54pm] srevilak: Tufts recently had an effort to unionize adjunct faculty. Will try to purse them for leads [9:54pm] noe: sure! [9:54pm] jokeefe: thanks, noe [9:54pm] Kendra: United for a Dair Economy's Steve Schnapp might be someone to ask [9:55pm] Kendra: Sorry Fair economy [9:55pm] noe: srevilak: let me know if you want me to poke them. I work on Medford campus right now, might be easier for me to drop in on one of them. [9:55pm] srevilak: noe: if you don't mind, that would be great. Thanks! [9:56pm] srevilak: Kendra: thx [9:56pm] Kendra: City life Vida Urbana [9:56pm] noe: srevilak: yes, I will poke adjuncts tomorrow [9:56pm] noe: (in a friendly way) [9:56pm] srevilak: [9:56pm] jokeefe: we are nearly at time [9:56pm] • js0000 cracking up! [9:56pm] js0000: i wanted to mention that i went to libre planet training tonight [9:56pm] js0000: talked up party [9:57pm] js0000: if you can bring some lit steve, i think some would read it [9:57pm] jokeefe: thank you, js0000, how did it go? [9:57pm] js0000: it was volunteer training [9:57pm] js0000: so i listened patiently [9:57pm] Kendra: Yeah, I'm volunteering on Saturday with the streaming. [9:58pm] js0000: sweet, see you there! [9:58pm] jokeefe: cool! [9:58pm] srevilak: I was hoping to attend DRM day brainstorming session Fri night. I don't think I'll be able to make it though [9:58pm] srevilak: But will talk to Zak on Saturday [9:59pm] srevilak: Quick report on candidates night: since it's on agenda [9:59pm] jokeefe: yes please [9:59pm] srevilak: 4 slots in my precinct, 5 candidates. It's a contested race [9:59pm] srevilak: three incumbents, two new candidates [9:59pm] srevilak: I will be doing some door knocking next week, and handing out business cards [10:00pm] noe: do you need volunteers? [10:00pm] jokeefe: have to id’d likely voters in your district? [10:00pm] noe: you knocked for me, i knock for you. [10:00pm] srevilak: Precinct is rather small [10:00pm] srevilak: (there are 21 precincts in arlington) [10:00pm] jokeefe: still if you want help [10:00pm] srevilak: election is Sat 28th [10:00pm] noe: the hard part will be reminding people to vote, I think . . . and reminding and reminding . . . [10:01pm] srevilak: noe: agreed. [10:01pm] noe: a win by 2 votes is still a win! [10:01pm] srevilak: I may make a small flyer "Please remember to vote, signed Steve Revilak Precinct 1 candidate + email" or some such [10:01pm] jokeefe: block voting? each voter gets to vote for up to four candidates? [10:02pm] srevilak: yes. Choose 4 of 5 [10:02pm] jokeefe: listing phone # is a good thing [10:02pm] srevilak: jokeefe: yes, of course [10:02pm] jokeefe: picture is also good [10:03pm] srevilak: Will do some thinking on it tonight, and will try to coordinate tomorrow [10:03pm] noe: we're beyond time [10:03pm] srevilak: aye [10:03pm] jokeefe: remind us when the election is? [10:03pm] srevilak: 1 week saturday [10:03pm] jokeefe: oh my [10:04pm] noe: [10:04pm] noe: good lord [10:04pm] jokeefe: ok, well whatever help you need [10:04pm] srevilak: my fault for not following up on who turned in papers [10:05pm] srevilak: I think one group night on canvassing would work. We can coordinate later [10:05pm] jokeefe: no worries, just keep moving forward. [10:05pm] jokeefe: ok [10:05pm] jokeefe: ready to adjourn? [10:05pm] srevilak: motion to adjourn [10:05pm] noe: move to adjourn! [10:05pm] noe: second! [10:05pm] jokeefe: all in favor?
