Winter Conference

Our Winter Conference is scheduled for Saturday, January 25th.

We selected the ROOTED Armory Café, Somerville, but it is not available that day and is only available the full time we need on Sundays, either 1/19 or any Sunday in February.

• Cost is $200/4 hr minus cost of any food purchased - https://artsatthearmory.org/venue-rental/public-events/.
• The MBTA Green line a 7 minute walk, Red line a 20 minute walk, MBTA bus close by, free parking on site
• Wheelchair accessible. Seats 52. Has tables, wifi and a projector. Bathroom connected to cafe

Our alternate location is the Somerville Kennedy School library, but it is too early to book it

• $50/hr? - https://somerville.k12.ma.us/district-leadership/central-administration/finance-and-facilities/rent-facilities
• Near public transit, ample parking. Library is not close to the entrance.

The Somerville Public Library, Central Branch Auditorium is free, but limited to 3 hours. I asked if that limit can be extended.

• It is close to the MBTA Green line and on several MBTA bus lines
• has limited parking near the high school and city hall
• Wheelchair accessible.

• Video quality of Jitsi has started to suffer. Would be good to find a better streaming/recording alternative.
• Pirate news recording scheduled for Sundays, 7pm with go-live at 7:30pm. Unless changed

Voter Outreach 2024

• Letters asking for pirate voters/election dates go out to cities/town this week.
• Followups as necessary
• Snail Mail supporters in December to tell them about:
  • Conference
  • Call for officer nominees
  • Municipal elections
  • Other events/efforts
  • Donate/join our mailing list

Summary

Discussed the conference location. Decided James will email list/Signal/Discord and ask if there are any objections to moving the conference to 1/19 at Rooted Armory Cafe in Somerville. Fall back will be to Somerville library, main branch auditorium provided we get approval.

Conference hours will be 10am to 4pm with 30min/1hour on either end for setup/clean up.

Explained objectives for the rest of the year:

• Contact towns/cities to get list of pirate voters & election dates
• Contact pirate voters about conference/upcoming elections
• Encourage and help train pirates to run in the upcoming elections

Joe would like to discuss his campaign at Sunday's pirate news and invite US Pirates Mitch and Drew. James will include them in the email with the connection details.
