ShotSpotter: What It Is and What It Means for Our Community

October 29 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

The Black Response and the Stop ShotSpotter Coalition will hold a community event about ShotSpotter technology on October 29th. It will be at the Cambridge Community Arts Center, Gym 119 Windsor Street, Cambridge. It is a nine minute walk from Central Square and the MBTA Red Line stop there.

Details:

In light of recent events in our neighborhood, many of us have questions about public safety and the tools used to police our streets. Join us for a community conversation about ShotSpotter, the gunshot detection system that uses microphones placed in neighborhoods to alert police.

We will talk through how the technology works, where it is used, what the research says about its accuracy, and how it affects the people who live near it. Most of all, this is a space to share how you are feeling, ask questions, and talk about what real safety looks like for us.

All are welcome. Light refreshments will be provided.
