Join the struggle for personal autonomy!

We commend the leak of a US Supreme Court draft ruling ending a women’s reproductive freedom. The people have a right to know that five Supreme Court justices plan to help state governments make women second class citizens. We reiterate our belief (below) that every individual has a right to personal and medical autonomy including reproduction and sexual health.

Those who oppose women’s right to choose whether to end their pregnancy will not stop there. Their plan, which the language of the Supreme Court’s draft ruling sets the groundwork for, is to end gay marriage, end the legal sale of contraceptives, end a person’s right to change gender and likely end interracial marriages. It isn’t hard to see how Alito’s language will be used to go after our fundamental right to privacy.

We call on all Pirates to resist this attack on personal autonomy and privacy using their voices and other tools at their disposal. One small step is to attend pro-choice rallies such as tonight’s at 6pm at Copley Square in Boston. The struggle for personal autonomy has long been under threat, but we will win in the end since our cause is just and righteous.

People with children are more dependent upon family and community for support. By obligating pregnant individuals to carry their pregnancy to term, they intend to limit the economic and social independence of half the population.

Six years passed between Roe v. Wade and the right declaring their anti-abortion sentiment. The right is institutionally dishonest about their intentions reguarding Roe v. Wade. They don’t care about protecting life at all. If they cared about life, then they would fight to ensure that all children have the family support they need to grow up into healthy, well educated citizens. Instead, they seek to re-establish a segregated society.

Defending Roe v. Wade is about more than just abortion, it’s about defending modern egalitarian society as a whole. The Pirate Party endorses every individual’s right to medical autonomy, and this includes reproduction and sexual health as well.
