Never thought something expired would taste this good

Yesterday, Section 215 of the Patriot Act expired.  For the moment, the NSA’s bulk collection of phone metadata program is no more.  A program that made our privacy vulnerable without actually finding a single terrorist has ended.

Many thanks to all of you who advocated for allowing this and other provisions of the Patriot Act to sunset.  The 4th Amendment is that much stronger as a result of your efforts.

Yet our fight is still not over.  The Senate is still taking up the USA Freedom Act and may vote on it today.  We know Senators Warren and Markey will vote for it as the House approved it.

Now that these provisions are dead, it is important to remind Senators Warren and Markey that they don’t have to support the USA Freedom Act to split the difference.  The NSA’s mass surveillance program never worked and it left everyone’s privacy vulnerable.  Give them a call:

Thanks!
