Massachusetts legislators will hear testimony for and against Digital Right to Repair on September 26 in the Joint Committee on Consumer Protection. The bill is H.143 in the Massachusetts House and S.96 in the Senate. With computers in more and more of the things we buy, it is vital that these bills pass so we truly control the things we own. Their passage will ensure that if you need a digital device repaired, you can take it to an independent contractor instead of the manufacturer or can repair it yourself.
The hearing will be 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM in Room B-1 of the State House. If you plan to speak at it, you will have only three minutes. Please email us so we can coordinate the topics and issues we all cover.
