Recently, the Boston City Council voted 13-0 to pass a ban face surveillance by all city departments. The mayor approved the ordinance as well.

Yesterday, the Easthampton city council also voted unanimously to ban city use of face surveillance technology.

Thanks to everyone who helped get these bans passed and to the Mass. ACLU and Restore the 4th for their consistent advocacy for a ban on face surveillance.

While you are here, today the Senate Judiciary Committee will vote on the EARN IT Act, which will harm our ability to communicate securely and in private. While Senators Warren and Markey aren’t on the committee, now is the time to call and urge them to put a hold on the EARN It Act. Call them at:

  • Warren: Senate office at (202) 224-4543. Her local offices are at (617) 565-3170 / (413) 788-2690
  • Markey: Senate office at (202) 224-2742. His local office is at (617) 565-8519
