The events that unfolded at the capitol building on January 6th will be remembered in history as the day the threat of white supremacy became undeniable. It is the culmination of everything we have been warning about for the past few years.
However, we cannot allow this show of force to scare us into a second Patriot Act or criminalizing dissent. The laws we have already failed to prevent this, because the people with the power to prevent it were either in on the insurrection from the start or did not view white protesters as a threat when the protesters’ public words and past actions indicated they were.
The only things that will keep us safe is removing white supremacists from their positions of power, abolishing the institutional elements of white supremacy America was founded upon and removing the tools of surveillance they use to hinder our collective liberation.
