The development and distribution of life-saving Covid-19 mRNA vaccines at record-breaking pace has protected millions of people from severe complications and deaths. Governments provided taxpayer funds to pharmaceutical companies which paved the way for rapid production and distribution of vaccines.
However, pharmaceutical companies have shut-out large portions of the global population from receiving doses by refusing to share vital vaccine technology. As of April, 2022, only 12% of the low-income population around the world is fully vaccinated.
Pharmaceutical companies have denied requests from the World Health Organization and low-and-middle income countries which requested technology to manufacture additional doses. By blocking global production efforts, pharmaceutical companies are prolonging the global pandemic and increasing the risk for more variants.
12% of low-income countries around the world are fully vaccinated. Vaccines stop Variants.
We will join with Justice is Global and other groups this Thursday, April 28th, tell Moderna to Share The Science. Add your voice at 5pm at Galaxy Park, a quick walk from the MBTA Kendall Square Red Line stop and tell us you will be there too!
