Opposition to the Mass. House’s Child Censorship Bill Grows

Massachusetts State House

The fight against the Mass. House’s censorship bill continues to gain attention. WBUR and NBC Boston have reported on it. The Boston City Council unanimously voted to urge Gov. Healey, the Massachusetts legislature and the Congressional delegation to oppose the Kids Online Safety Act and other bills that would impose age verification systems, censor children and undermine our privacy.

The Massachusetts Senate still hasn’t taken up H. 5366. Contact your Mass. senator and urge them to vote it down. We listed the reasons we oppose this bill.

We joined a letter with more than 50 organizations opposing this bill. Thanks to Fight for the Future for all their efforts in organizing opposition to this bill. Fight for the Future also released a working draft of a model bill they are offering as an alternative to the House bill. We will review it at our next member meeting tonight at 8pm. If you cannot attend, email us your thoughts at info@masspirates.org.
