Fun and Games Out And About

Two Upcoming Events & Intellectual Pooperty

We have two great events in the Boston area over the next two weekends that we look forward to and a fun opportunity to challenge standard ideas about intellectual privilege (IP) laws.

Art Beat in Somerville, this Saturday, July 16th

First, like last year, we will be at Art Beat festival in Somerville this Saturday from 12:30pm to 2:30pm.  We will be there to register voters, hand out our regular flier, tell folks about next week’s Pirate Picnic, and hand out copies of Nina Paley’s Mimi & Eunice’s Intellectual Pooperty Minibook.

If you want to help us out please either sign up at our Facebook event page or contact us directly.  You can reach us at info@masspirates.org or call / txt us at (617) 863-6277 (MAPP).

Pirate Party Picnic, next Saturday, July 23rd

Second, on Saturday, July 23rd, noon-6pm, we are joining with Boston Freedom of Information to host the 2011 Pirate Picnic on George’s Island in Boston Harbor.  We will be taking the noon ferry from the Boston Long Wharf-North landing and will be there until 6pm.

We will have a picnic, games, costume contests, as well political discussion and trainings.  We want to know what activities you want to see so either tells on our Facebook event page or contact us.  You can reach us at info@masspirates.org or call / txt us at (617) 863-6277 (MAPP).  Please tell us if you will be at the picnic so we can get a head count.

It will be a great afternoon of geek politics, activism, and fun.  We hope you can make it!

Speaking of Intellectual Pooperty

We have 1000 copies of cartoonist Nina Paley‘s free Mimi & Eunice‘s Intellectual Pooperty Minibook that we offered to distribute throughout Massachusetts.  Nina really grasps the potential that the internet provides to bring supporters and artists together without large corporations taking a cut.  Because of her dedication to share her work without the limits of copyright, we want to help promote this free book.

We need your help to distribute them all.  You don’t need to stand on a street corner and hand them out.  Simply asking your local book or comic store, library or music club if you can put them out for people to take would be great.

If you can help out, please contact us at info@masspirates.org or call / txt us at (617) 863-6277 (MAPP).

Thanks!
