This Saturday is the annual free Boston Software Freedom Day. It will be from 9am-5pm at Industry Lab, 288 Norfolk Street in Cambridge. LibrePlanet Boston is organizing it.

There are a variety of talks and demonstrations focused on Free Software. From 10:30am to noon, various Pirates are holding a cryptoparty. The cryptoparty schedule is:

  • 10:30-10:45am – Steve Revilak demonstrates packet sniffing to show how digital surveillance works;
  • 10:45-11:15am – Kendra Moyer presents Jitsi, a Skype alternative;
  • 11:15-11:45am – Noelani Kamelamela demonstrates how you can secure your e-mail with Mailvelope & GnuPG/PGP.

The rest of the time will be devoted to questions and key signing.  Pirates will be around during the conference to answer any questions and help people get setup.

It helps the organizers if you sign up to attend.  It is free.  Please spread the word about it.
